BREATH OF THE CHASM - CHAPTER 2 By @aisyle Rated: NFE (Not for everyone) "Kheel!" I called, I grabbed my bow and spread my wings, ready to follow her. "Tulin!" Teba's stern voice called. I closed my eyes in frustration and turned to face my father, "Kheel won't make it!" I yelled, "She hasn't been trained!" Teba sighed, "Kheel must follow her own path, and you must follow yours." "My path is with Kheel," I said sternly, "I can convince her to come back!" Teba shook his head, his eyes full of concern, "Your path is with us. You have a large destiny here and you must stay to fulfil it." I shook my head back at him, "My destiny is with Kheel! Why don't you understand that?" I didn't wait for him to respond and instead spread my wings and soared away, following the purple Rito. Kheel didn't stop for a while, so I couldn't as well, but by the time the sun was nearing the mountains, she fell from the sky towards tall rock pillar. I dove for her, and managed to fly right under her right when she fell. "OOF!" I yelped as Kheel landed on me. I pushed her off me and stood up. "Kheel?" I shook her shoulders. Kheel groaned and woke, "Tulin?!" "Kheel!" I smiled and hugged her, "Why'd you fall?" Kheel sat up, "My wings hurt so much from flying," she explained, her eyes began to water, "I can't believe they're all dead," she wiped her eyes, "Why are you here Tulin?" "I came here to-" "If you're here to take me home, I'm not coming," she cut me off, "I need to find my father." "No! I'm here to help you find him." "Oh," Kheel blushed, "Well, we should rest, it'll be dark soon." I nodded, "Good idea," I checked my side pouch for wood or flint and sighed, slightly embarssed, "Do you have any flint or wood?" Kheel checked her pouch and revealed a small piece of black rock, "I have a little bit of flint left, no wood though." "I'll get some for you!" I said. I peered over the edge of the pillar, there was a small camp of Bokoblins not so far away, and some trees in that direction as well. I opened my wings and flew towards the trees, trying not to get spotted. The bow-weidling Bokoblin spotted me though and blew it's horn. Suddenly the whole camp was swarming with armed Bokoblins. I grabbed my bow with my claws, but before I could even shoot, the Bokoblin shot my wing. I cried out in pain and nearly lost my balance, but I used my beak to pull the bowstring back and took out the bow-weilding Bokoblin. I soared to it's perch and shot a few more Bokoblins, before long the whole camp was gone. I was panting and sat down before collecting the loot. The arrow was still imbedded into my wing and when I checked it, I realized it was a barbed horn arrow. I winced. Kheel must have saw me fight because she flew down to see me. "Tulin!" she cried when she saw I was bleeding. She rushed over and checked my wound. "I need to pull it out,” I flinched as she touched the arrow. Kheel rolled her eyes and without warning tugged the arrow out. Then she handed it to me, "Here! Add this to your collection of arrows." Blood rushed out of the fresh wound and Kheel kneeled down to see it. She muttered a few things then grabbed and herb from her pouch. She mashed it with her claws, then applied it to my wound. It stung like crazy and I flinched again. Kheel rolled her eyes again, "Fledgling," she muttered. She looked into her pouch again and this time grabbed a whole piece of fabric out. It's design was beautiful. A woven weaving of Revali. When I was admiring it, Kheel tore it in half and I gasped. "Why'd you do that?" I said in disbelief. Kheel sighed, "It's fine! There are plenty of these back at Rito Village." She tore it up a bit more and tied a piece of it over my wound to catch the blood. "There you go!" Kheel said, leaning back to admire her work, "Momma always said I was bad at cleaning wounds." "Well, you're not," I said. She gathered her flint and struck the Bokoblin camp's campfire, "Let's rest now." And we slept.
