This project states that girls are not objects. This statement is true, but to add on to this, no one is an object. It doesn't matter the gender, orientation, race, age, or religion, you are not an object, you don't belong to someone. It hurts that I have to say this, because this should be a given. We shouldn't have to say we're not things, and the fact that we have to reveals that we live in a pretty twisted world. It doesn't matter the amount of people who will end up signing this. Action is needed to make a better world, for us and for the future. So I only have two things to say: Those of you who are privileged enough to not be objectified, please protect those who are. Stand by your siblings, not only of blood, but of spirit. Stand by them and fight for them. Those of you who are like me- living in fear because of who you are, please, please know you are not alone, and that one day, we will all be equals, living in a world made of love and peace, not hate, fear, and violence. Please stand up for yourself, because if you lay down and take the abuse as its given, the cycle will never break. Thank you.
