This project has different options: Realistic is a simulation of a steam locomotive on scratch. This uses the physics and operation techniques as the real thing. (only slightly simplified.) This is NOT a showcase, since you need to tend to fire and keep boiler pressure up and keep water between 12 and 88%. This mode is aimed for serious railfans, a challenge, or people with locomotive operation knowledge. Easy is where the only controls are the speed and whistle, which is aimed at beginners and people with no locomotive operation knowledge. Career is where you need to drive your train to all the stations to make as much money as you can, the longer you take the more money you lose. Free Drive is where you can drive to your hearts content on an infinite loop without worrying about money. The details about the exact loco are in the Notes and Credits section. This project goes under the US act of fair use, see one of my youtube videos for the full disclaimer.
NO LONGER UPDATING THE GAME: The steam locomotives of the 940 group are steam tank engines of the Italian State Railways, today almost all out of service, built for heavy services on the Apennine lines of central Italy. The 940s are the product of the reworking of the previous project of the 740 group, to which the weight distribution has been modified to make the locomotive symmetrical, that is able to develop the same speed both in forward and in reverse. This allowed the locomotive not to have to turn in the small end stations of the lines. With a wheel arrangement of 2-8-2t, with an output of 980 hp, they developed a speed of around 40mph. Some specimens have received a rise in the charcoal burner which has made it possible to increase the capacity of coal from 3.5 tons to about 5. They were built in 50 members of the class built between 1922 and 1923 by Officine Meccaniche and Reggiane. Two examples of this class appear in Trainz Railway Simulator 2006 and 2009, Nos 038 and 044 respectively.
