~Chapter 9~ The rest of us run after Thomas and Ridge. I'm gasping for breath by the time we reach them. (Not that it was too difficult of a run. It's just that Amora was on my back the whole time.) Amora hops off and stares in astonishment at what lies right in front of us. "Is that the castle?" I look up, my hands on my knees. My eyes widen. "We're already here?" As I finally manage to stand back up, I notice that Raven's hands are balled into furious fists. Thomas and Ridge are still gawking. Cory scratches her head. "That was... a lot easier than I expected." We all stare for another moment, but then I realize something's missing. "Where are Edwin and Renn?" Cory's eyes widen with alarm. "Shoot! We must have left them back there!" She starts to run back. "Amora, Eliza and Thomas, come with me! Raven and Ridge, you stay here and keep watch for any suspicious activity." I groan a little at the thought of having to run more. Thomas quickly swipes my earring from a sheepish Ridge and hands it back to me. I smile gratefully as we all begin to run back. ---15-Minute Time Lapse I Guess--- "So, an injury on Edwin's arm from the wolf battle started acting up when he ran," Renn explains once we bring them back to the castle. "You guys were all gone and didn't notice, but I was behind... of course. So I stopped to help him, but I don't know the first thing about healing." Amora bends down and starts cleaning the re-opened wound on Edwin's arm. "Aw, that sucks. Sorry, Edwin." He blushes. "O-Oh, pshaw. A little wound never killed anyone- wait, poor choice of words." I smile. It's always funny to see how flustered Edwin becomes around Amora. "Halt!" We all stop dead at what we are doing when we hear a deep, booming voice behind us. "What are you doing on royal property?" We turn around to see three guards pointing their spears at us. Amora lets out a peep of fear and slowly scoots in front of Edwin protectively. "Don't let them get to Edwin," she whispers. "We must ask you to leave... or die!" said another guard, pointing his spear right at Thomas's throat suddenly. His face is filled with terror- I've never seen him so afraid. Suddenly the spear is knocked away, and Cory stands in front of Thomas. "GO!" she yells. We all leap up (except for Amora and Renn, who are protecting Edwin) and start to fight. Thomas is still a little shaken, but he looks okay. I blast a guard who is about to stab his back to the side. When two of the guards scurry away in surrender, the third one is bent on one knee in front of us, catching his breath. He looks up at me, a menacing gleam in his eye. But then his gaze travels up, past my face, to my tiara. I freeze. His eyes are huge. "...No..." he whispers. "It's you...." Now Amora is back up. She and Thomas protectively step up to my side. "Back away from her!" Amora yells. The guard is still shocked as he stares at my tiara. Then he heaves himself up and runs away. Amora puts a hand on my shoulder- my fear must be showing. What did that guard want from me- or my tiara? Thomas looks furious but suspicious as he watches the guard go. I quickly plaster a fake smile on my face. "W-Well, that was something. Shall we go?" SNEAK PEEK INTO THE CASTLE... The guard ran inside, his chest heaving. He raced up to the king. His eyes were wide, and the king leaned forward. "What happened out there? Speak!" The guard took a moment to catch his breath, then looked up. "We found her." The king was stunned silent. Then he spoke, barely in a whisper. "You found her?" The guard nodded, and the king sat back. "Capture her and her comrades, and bring them to me." The guard nodded again. "Yes, sire."
