thank you @VintageBoots for the lovely questions!! <3 1. What got you interested in writing? In first grade, I decided to write a story. Ever since then, I've loved to write. 2. Did you always like writing? Not at all! In homeschooled kindergarten, we had a paper schedule on the wall. I literally ripped down "Writing", crumpled it up, and threw it in the trash. Once I realized that writing wasn't just labeling diagrams, I liked it more. 3. What is the story that has just been sitting around in your brain, waiting to come to life? Is it just a vague idea that catches your heart, or is it already an elaborate story? I somehow always have an elaborate story in my head- it changes almost every day. 4. What makes a story catch your heart? I'm not picky. Find a book, and I'll read it. 90% sure I'll like it. 5. Do you think that there's a pattern that all good stories follow, or are they all different? Good stories are all different. I love magical realism, and those types of stories can go so many different ways. 6. Q: Did you ever cry over your own writing? Laugh over it? Shiver over it? I laugh at my pieces from when I was little. But other than that? No. 7. What do you despise in stories? Predictable plots. Scary stuff. Inappropriate topics in so-called-"childrens" books. Yeah. 8. What makes a story bad (in your opinion)? Same stuff above. 9. Q: Which is more important in a story: emotional depth, or an interesting plot? Plot. 10. Q: Is there a specific thing your stories tend to center around? (Ex: setting, personality of character, genre, ect.) I always have a TON of dialogue. 11. Do you plan to become an author someday? YESSSS 12. Q: If so, how do you think authors can influence the world for good by their writing? Idk??? 13. Q: What are your favorite themes (morals or messages) in stories? I like stories about friendship bc ngl, I can relate to most of them. 14. Q: What are the cliches you hate the most? The predictable stuff. Like when the nerd's best friend ditches her for the popular crowd, she's miserable for most of the book, meets a new friend, and realizes all her true potential. Does that ring a bell to you? Ugh. 15. Q: Is there a way to make those cliches not so bad? Do you think you could do it if you set out to try? Maybe if that same nerd starts getting noticed by the popular crowd and has the tough decision between choosing her new friend or popularity, it could be better? 16. Q: What is the genre you hate the most? Ugh. Sci-fi and horror. Period. 17. Q: What if you tried to write it? What would happen? I literally cannot write something with aliens or creepy stuff! Grosses me out. I'll stick to my usual, thank you. 18. Q: What makes a character lovable? Being able to relate to a character is like magic. Once you have experiences in common, good or bad, you can't put the book down. 19. Q: Is it possible for a non-lovable character to make you care deeply about them? 100%. I always root for the underdog, but also hope they don't win (hence my despising of predictable stories) 20. Q: How can you make your story touch your reader and impact their life? It depends on the audience. I always try to write about things that real students experience, like friend drama or difficult decisions being made. But some people don't like that kind of story. I also enjoy writing back stories to the villains in books (maybe why I love Wicked) and stories about the hero's children feeling pressured by their parents. I try having stories for everyone (unless they only like sci-fi and horror!) music ☆ mess it up - gracie abrams <3
