sperbros’s engine is much more familiar to me so this was much easier than using the one i did use or the griffpatch tile engine. i’m also very happy with BERT’s moveset now, i didn’t like how much stuff he shared with peppino in builds prototype to spacey build. i want this guy in frenzy worlds now, if meltyman can make it in anyone can. i don’t know what else to put here so i’m just gonna start talking about BERT’s anatomy because i think it’s pretty interesting. so to start off, BERT is actually a reptile, his specific species is a Bert. his idle animation isn’t very animated because he’s so used to sitting still to soak up sun since he’s cold-blooded. he’s also over 8,000 years old, but Berts can generally live for around 20,000 years. just because he’s a reptile doesn’t mean he has too many reptilian properties. for example, his mouth is hidden from plain sight to fool prey into a false sense of security, but he can rip open his face to reveal it, which will regenerate when his newfound “lips” close. his anatomy is still focused on hunting prey because he was alive since tribal times. each of his feet are a pair of strong muscles surrounded by tough yet cushiony reptilian skin, with his ankles being bone hidden by his fat. his ankles are specifically evolved to swing around in a circle to increase speed over long distances, which is why his mach animation looks the way it does. in fact, his feet can spin so fast that they form a jet propulsion system that allows him to fly through the air like a rocket. his organs are located in his “head,” those being his heart, mouth, eyes, brain, and stomach. he doesn’t need lungs because he eats a lot, and all of the matter that he eats—even waste—is converted to pure energy that he uses for running, not to mention he doesn’t even have a nose.
