Beat No More Heroes 2 (Wii) yesterday. It was easily the worst No More Heroes game but that means I've beat all of them. Got NMH physically today. Anyway, I've been obsessed with this series. I've beat NMH3 twice, once on Carolina, beat NMH1 three times on Switch and essentially 100%-ed it and plan on replaying in twice more, and I've played TSA and NMH2. So, this is my final ranking for now. No More Heroes is perfect. The writing is profound, the character designs are amazing, the game's cinematography, soundtrack, production, gameplay, everything is absolutely top notch. No More Heroes 1 is like my favorite game ever (Excluding Yo-Kai Watch 1, of course) and I still love the other NMH games with a passion. So here's all the bosses ranked. It's based on story, design, music, everything. Fought everyone but Silver Face, so I think these rankings are mostly fair. F - These bosses are terrible. They're either far too easy or completely ridiculous. Jasper Batt Jr is just insulting to the first game's profound anti-violence message and is like if you made Roger Rabbit the main villain of infinity war... D - These bosses are hollow, but they still have a bit of substance for various reasons. Pretty much F+, since at least they tried. C - Pretty lame and generic bosses. They mostly don't have a bearing on the narrative but either were fun or could have been incredible. Copeland was great but he's just Death Metal again. Helter was fun to fight, but he has no weight to him. As much as I love the musical chairs song Ohma is a lazy boss, so she landed in C to balance things out. B - OK, they actually tried with some of these. As much as I love Mr Blackhole and Gold Joe (Gold Joe's theme is incredible!) they are a little generic for NMH standards. Still, I really do like them. Smoking King is really cool for example, but he's just not super memorable. Vladmir was one of the very few good NMH2 bosses and I would have ranked him beneath Death Metal if he didn't have an insta-kill. A - These bosses are pretty good! Usually people put Holly and Alice higher, but they do feel a bit underdeveloped. Their deaths are meant to be somber heartbreaking moments but they aren't set up well enough for us to go 'geez, what have I done'? They're still alright to fight against and usually the more average NMH bosses get better over time (Hence why TSA and NMH2 bosses could have been ranked higher) Damon is a great villain but doesn't scream boss. The TSA bosses start getting really good in this rank and beyond. I still love "Video Games are meant to be played, not lived". Kimmy is one of the very few good bosses from NMH2. And Death Metal and Dr Peace are pretty much S tier, just their gameplay is a bit underdeveloped because they appear so early in NMH1. S - Silver Face and Margaret would have been ranked lower but their theme songs are HOLY. Philistine Europe is by far the peak of video game music. Margaret would have easily been in C tier for her gameplay, but the rest is just top notch. Sonic Juice has such a good set up and is actually a likeable dude, Kimmy Love is the payoff to NMH2's set up
