Instructions

Deep in the medicine den a large tom sat, letting out a deep, sorrowful sigh, so many clanmates had fallen this moon... too many. Most of zir fallen clanmates already got buried, or were in the process of being buried, now it was Mourningquiver's part to bury his dear family... his sons. The tom had now made zir way out of camp, carrying two flowers, forget me nots. ze had gathered the flowers a day earlier, he had to travel quite far but ze would do anything for his sons... even if he wasn't there when they died, or dissapeared in Equinoxseeker's case, the young tom's body was never found, but Mourningquiver wanted to make a memorial for his dear son anyways. Mourningquiver looked around, occasionally glancing over zir shoulder, more cats were out in the desert, burying their loved ones, the tom couldn't help but feel a little guilty, ze was the medicine cat for starclan's sake, and he couldn't even protect his own clanmates? At last ze arrived at the place he wanted to bury his dear son Solstice, the place ze had first found Solstice and Equinox when they were merely two moon old kits. now there just lay his sons dead body, his golden fur turning a beautiful red from the setting sun making the young tom look like a little sun himself. Mourningquiver began digging a hole, glancing at his sons body every now and then, his eyes filling with pain and sorrow, ze had found Solstice at the bottom of the canyon... what if ze had found his body earlier? had there been a way to save his son? Mourningquiver shook his head, he didn't want to think about that, his son was gone now and there was nothing he could do about it... As ze finished the hole ze gently grabbed the golden tom's body by his scruff, gently placing him in the hole. Mourningquiver kicked the sand he had dug out over the toms body and took a few steps back. ''M-may starclan find you and greet you as one of their own'', Mourningquiver mewed, he barely seemed able to speak, ''You w-were a noble warrior and Windclan will dearly miss you, my son, my brightest sun.'' with that ze placed the forget me not flower on his sons grave. another next to it, ''And you too Equinox'', ze mewed to that direction, ''I may not know where you are now, but i hope Starclan follows you every step of the way, Windclan was and will always be proud of you, both of you.'' Mourningquiver dipped zir head and sat there with his eyes closed for a few moments, breathing heavily to hold back tears, life had to go on, zir clan had to go on, it would be hard without his dear sons but ze had to continue. He opened his eyes again, glancing at the silverpelt, the sun had now almost completely set and the stars were beginning to shine, from tonight zir sons would be up there too... now there was nothing that could ever hurt his little warriors, ever, with that thought he gave out a small smile, ''May you hunt happily in Starclan'', ze mewed to the stars. After that he got up, it was time to get back to camp before leafbare's cold froze his paws.
