As always, there WILL be spoilers in this review. Please watch the episode before reading. Or just...don't if you want to keep your sanity! | | | | | | | V .......lets get this over with. "Lots of Mud" is the 11th episode of Battle for Dream Island Again, the 36th episode in in-universe order, and the 77th episode overall. It was released on Monday, April 1st, 2024. That is what the wiki says, and it is perfect date really, because everything here is a joke. Because of the structure of the episode, I can't really get into the challenge without talking about all the stuff before it so..I guess I'll do that. Fries is greeted by Jack Frew, a character which hasn't been used in over 13 years. In all honesty, It's kinda cool to see an old and seemingly forgotten character have some time in the limelight again! I wish it was in it's own video and not this episode because it is extremely awkward and horribly contrasts Fries personality! The FIRST SCENE had me asking "Is this a real episode?" At least in BFDIA 10, it took over half the episode to make me beg the question. The B.F.D.I. still sucks go figure. I hate this large team, because it isn't funny nor does it make sense. "Oh, but GC they dissolved it in this episode so why are you bringing it up?" Because it only proves my point! This "new team" was a completely useless waste of time, and did nothing but drag down BFDIA 10. Well, so this episode must have brought back the old teams right? Well it did, and HOO BOY DID I CALL IT. ROLLL THE CLIP!!! (in my BFDIA 10 review) "Is Pencil going to bring her alliance to make Freesmart 2???" (back to the review) Yeah...that's exactly what happened. God this is painfully predictable. While I am glad the three teams format is back, I am not a fan of the new team names. Do you really expect me to call Freesmart "LRLD" lmao nah they are still Freesmart. Same goes for Wheel Ooze a Hole Bunch and Team No Name. Now it is time for the elimination and FINALLY. Spongy got out! No, I don't hate Spongy (if anything I would have much rather Ice Cube gotten out) but he didn't say anything about "Oh yeah, don't tell the announcer about my elimination" bs that Gelatin apparently did. NOW I FINALLY HAVE GROUNDS TO CALL THIS ABSOLUTE TRAVESTY OF A CONTINUATION NON-CANON!!! Just..just ignore that one line Book said in TPOT 8 just...yeah. Back to the elimination, urm..yeah I have nothing else to say. Why am I even making this review? Yeah so if you guys couldn't tell yet, I cannot stand this episode. It is genuinely the worst episode since TPOT 5, which if you didn't know is my least favorite BFDI episode to date. In BFDIA 11, there isn't a single likable or competent character. Not even Fries, granted he wasn't awful, but when "not awful" is the best character in the episode...yeah, it isn't a good sign. Not to mention the challenge is so awful in so many ways. The challenge is to rip off Flower's petals, whoever has the least is up for elimination. Conceptually, this challenge isn't bad. It is fairly similar to the challenge in ORB 2, but that one was actually really clever and perfectly showed off each of the unique character's abilities (seriously go watch ORB it is so underrated). What does this have? Uhh it has nothing interesting happening, and every single one of the characters range from watered down to flat out awful. And that isn't even the worst part!!! You see, to prevent people from stealing her petals too easily, she puts PADLOCKS ON HER PETALS. Am I the only one who see's the problem here? IT'S LIKE PUTTING A GATE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN OPEN FEILD. YOU CAN STILL RIP OFF THE PETALS IF THERE IS A LOCK THERE. YOU CAN STILL COMPLETE THE OBJECTIVE. This is the most obvious, and arguably worst example of no thought put into a challenge design at all. Maybe if it fully encased the petals I would understand, but COME. ON. Now for the character segment YIPPEE!!1! Screw Freesmart. I genuinely couldn't stand Ice Cube, and by all accounts she should be getting out next episode. And if she doesn't, I WILL LOSE MY MIND. Her being unlikable isn't even funny, it is just flat out annoying. Ruby is still obnoxious and annoying like she has always been, I would say she was slightly worse in BFDIA 7 and 10 but she still sucks here. Pencil and Book are just fine, but serve almost zero narrative perpose so there's that than. Now for No-Name! Fries is still the best character, but he did nothing intresting this time around except for carrying his team and getting crushed. TB and GB were mildly annoying, but they are okay I guess. And now for the atrocity that is WOAH Bunch! Nickel still sucks, and is generally still an annoying character. Bomby and Needle did nothing interesting except for being bland or drowning. CONTINUE IN THE NOTES AND CREDITS
Go down once you read the first half of the review (yes it really is that long) Coiny is really annoying, but since he did carry his team I'll give him a pass. Pin is now just Box from II, but actually somewhat intresting. To the episode's full credit, the scene where Coiny used Pin to figure out which door to use was really clever. That is the only compliment I have for the entire episode, and even than Pin's entire situation still has flaws. I know she doesn't have a face, but SHE CAN JUMP AROUND? Like, we have been seeing this since BFDIA 5, and evidently she can still hear so WHY. CAN'T. SHE. STILL. MOVE. AROUND. And if she can't see, how did she know which door the key was behind? I know she can hear, but 1. she is in the back of the room and 2. even if she could hear which door was safe, how would she know which door Coiny was opening? Now for the rest of the characters! PSB is okay, but gets killed off for no reason so I don't have any real reason to care about her. Flower is really annoying, and has literally no redeeming qualities because she was a menace this season. I have no idea how she will just seemlessly make that transition into BFB, but who really cares anymore. The Cookie and Vegemite guy were just annoying. How do you have a character be so STUPID? Like, you think the straws poking out of the water are mythical portals? At least BBQ Sauce and Pineapple were somewhat likable, these guys are just dumb. You know what, that's what I think of the entirety of this episode. Just. Dumb. So overall, how does this episode stack up compared to the rest of the episodes? It's dead last. At least BFDIA 10 had Fries, and BFDIA 7 had...okay but it's still better you get my point. This is also worse than every episode of BFB, even BFB 16 which is infamously bad. But the real question, is it worse than TPOT 5? Well, my opinion has actually shifted on TPOT 5. It doesn't infuriate me anymore, but now it just makes me feel absolutely nothing. And that is arguably worse than an episode which infuriates me, so CONGRATULATIONS BFDIA 11 you aren't the worst of the worst because you actually make me feel something! YIPPEE! 1.6/10, BFDIA should never have been revived. Until there isn't an episode that is absolute dog water, I am going to continue having this sentiment. Anyways I AM FINALLY DONE THANK GOD. See you guys next time when I talk about how fun Bowser's Inside Story is. Bye bye!
