Personal update: I’m currently in a tight spot. I’ve underperformed in half of my Grade 12 exams and I’ve tried to be the best I can be. Healthy and happy, y’know? It’s been a year since I was in a really awful place. The past year socially has been a nightmare but I can say with confidence that I understand how the world around me works. I’m starting to transition into adulthood, and I’ve simultaneous been more happy than ever but also under a lot of pressure. I’ve learned to, most importantly, find peace within myself due to some very horrible treatment and despite that I still manage to walk away and let go of the struggles. I’m trying to enjoy what’s left of my younger years, binging my old Wii games and whatnot. Being yourself is probably the best thing you can do in your life, but though I’ve found it hard to go against the current doing what you believe in is about the most healthy thing you can do despite how hard it may be. Best way to describe how I feel is 'On Track' by Tame Impala. I decided to make this project when I stopped to think about how Smash had impacted me. Sure, I grew up with Yo-Kai Watch and Nintendo games and sure Suda51, Kojima, Toriyama and Fujimoto’s works had all inspired me, but Smash? And then it had hit me, despite all my years and years of working in this project the exact scale and impact the game is having. Within the past week, despite losing access to my main account 6 Player, a HUD, 3 new characters (half the roster done) and 5 new stages had all been done, with many more stages and characters to come in the next few weeks. I thought about the Engine’s current state and how it would be when combined with the menu demo. And I just wanna thank you all for how grateful I am for working on this project. This game has gone from a fever dream of a bloated roster and inconsistent stage art styles to something with substance. Something with potential. So. Super Smash Bros. Gold is releasing this Australian Winter- or summer for you American and British Scratchers. Sometime June or July - August at the absolute latest including delays. 3 months tops. I’ve been discussing how this project will go ahead with Dinostroid who I’ve been working very closely with and the general idea is as follows. I’m going to work on as many stages as I can until April 16th. For the two months after that Dino will work on characters until June 16th. After then, I’ll return to develop and finish off any remaining stages or light changes for the game and combine the engine with the menu to create SSBG. It’ll be released [hopefully] in June or July. The nitty gritty details: - Currently 6 of the 22 stages are made and I’m trying to make 2 a day. There’s another 11 for me to make, with the remaining stages being designed by @BrickPlex . I’ll try and make as many as I can and I’m working very hard to get as much content out as I can. There’s a full list in v8.4 onwards logging all the stages made and to be made, so check that I out. - 9 characters are in the game. When @Dinostroid is programming while I’m busy with my studies (As loyal as I am to SSBG I’m not failing to school to get the game out!) he’ll try his best to get Fox, Captain Falcon, Luigi, Mewtwo, Donkey Kong, Jibanyan and Vegeta in. Some may not be entirely original, Luigi and Vegeta may be more clone-y to save space and some may not make it in if Dino gets exhausted and can’t make that many in the time frame, but he’s promised he’ll try his best. He’s also incorporating various features and bug fixes when I’m too busy to work on the engine. The roster has been cut down from 24 to 16 to save space, so fortunately we’re past the halfway mark. The only other characters that may get in if there’s time left are Shadow (If he’s made for SSBI, meaning they get into both games to save time), Solid Snake and Travis Touchdown (If time is left, the only non-generic series with a lot of content and no reps) and Wario and Waluigi, only if they gets customs. If you ask me, the full roster will likely be the SSB64 roster with Mewtwo instead of JP, Goku, Vegeta, Sonic, Shadow, Jibanyan, Snake and Travis. DK will have a reworked moveset too. 10 characters in 2-3 months is a lot, so I’m locking in now to make as much for the project as I can since I likely won’t be developing during the term and I’ll be active irregularly. Sometimes I get worried that I don’t work hard enough on this project, but managing everything as it is is a hard job, little alone programming the menus, stages, the studio, so on. So Dino and I are working as a sort of tag team. When he’s free, he devs, when I’m free, I dev. - Other stuff incomplete like Solo modes / Online, stock icons and minor fixes will be done in quiet. We may go with solo, we may make a v1.1 and include online then, who knows. In other words, once all the characters and stages get in, dw about it, SSBG is set to come out soon. Thank you so much. I’d love to hear your feedback going onwards.
