Chapter 4 Letters Nora, I dislike her, or… do I? We had so much fun together, so are we enemies or friends? We’re staying at a hotel for two days, because this was the yearly Spelling Bee. That night I had to sleep with Nora, the thing I hated, sleeping with someone that had tied with you. To be honest, I think it would be better If she lost, and I won. Before bed, Nora kneeled down, and did that weird thing again, I didn’t question her this time though, because it might mean to her that I am not smart at all, so I try to copy her and I heard that she said at the start, Nora said quietly, “Heavenly father, thank you so much for helping me win the spelling bee and tie with Emma. Please help me to continue in your word and obey you. Amen.” And then I say, “Heavenly father, please help me to be the most popular girl in town and help me to look even prettier.” And I say in my fancy voice, If that’s even possible. Amen.” And then off to bed I went. Sleeping, my dreams where all filled with the Spelling Bee, but worst one was this, my name had been called, “spell Apple Emma.” Said the moderator. smiling as big as I could I said, “A-p-l Apple!” Everyone laughs at me, my friends, my family, and most of all Nora. After the spelling bee, Nora won. All my friends shouted, “Nora, Nora!!!!” while holding her up high, “But, what about me, girls?” I cried. “You’re not our friend anymore Emma! Go away!” Sarah Shouted at me, as she pushed me away, “Nora’s way better than you!” I watched all of them walk away, and they all stuck their tongues at me. I cried for a long time, and that’s when I woke up, Nora was telling me that we got letters! My First letter was from Victoria, for a moment I feared that she would say we’re not friends anymore, but I told myself that that was from a silly dream, now I read the letter with the cute handwriting, Dear Emma, I hope you are doing well, we are doing good at school, but let me tell you, things just aren’t the same without you! But I do not know how your family is doing. And I want to tell you that we miss you very much! How’s your trip going? Oh, how I wish I could be with you! All of your other friends and I send love! With much love, Victoria “I miss you too Victoria!” I say in my mind. My next letter was from my parents, To my dearest Daughter, Emma, I write to you to tell of bad news, unfortunately, your mom is very sick, so I had to take her to the hospital. She has a sickness that risks death called ______ she wishes that you would come home, but that is a decision that we are leaving up to you Emma. With Love, Dad A scared and sad face comes across my worried face, all sorts of bad thoughts rush through my mind, “What if she Dies?! I- I will be a teenager without a mom, an-and we will not be rich!” “Are you okay?” asks Nora. “Please just leave me alone!” I yell. With that, Nora walks out of the room, leaving me crying on the hotel bed.
I still have to figure out which sickness the mom has.
