dank yuo space for next lore: he was originally a tender engine (4-8-0), but he fell off of a trestle that was on the brink of collapsing and the crash obliterated his tender and his left eye (that's what hit the ground first). he was then turned into the 4-8-4T here because the DSR was too invested in other businesses like cars and extending the railway to do much in repairing trains. balloonitude wants to turn him back into the tender engine he originally was, but darius likes being the tender engine, plus, the crash gave him trauma and if he gets his tender back it's gonna give him memories he wants to keep forgotten. also his left eye has been healed for years now and yet he still wears the eyepatch because he's painted something he quite likes on the eyepatch. i don't blame him.
