i have thought on how we could do npcs. one of my ideas was this: basically npcs in recode would be a replacement for players in the lobby, say there is only on player in the server, then there would be 64 npcs, for every player added an npc is removed, for every player that leaves an npc is added. npcs now would interact with everything, even other npcs, to make the game feel more natural (sorta like rain world) if there is only one player in the lobby than npcs would have 10 t1's, 15 t2's, 15 t3's, 10 t4's, 4 t5's. all of them combined would make 64 npcs in total, if a creature with strength in numbers spawns, then it is guaranteed that 2-4 more will spawn with it, if it is a tier 5 then only 2 will spawn with it, making creatures herd and pack hunters stay together, npcs would also set territory's and would all act certain ways if someone got near. either only certain creatures in the game are npcs, or there would be new creatures for it, but here is the amount of creatures that will be npcs for now. tier 1's: MekMek: Mek's will be scavengers, they will often hang around other creatures that are 2+tiers above them for protection, Mekmeks are also very annoying sometimes, if a baby or teen mek mek is around they will ankle bite and snap at anything near, but will never intend on killing. mekmeks will also square off with eachother, but will never kill. if a mekmek sees another creature die then all mekmeks in the area will flea in different directions. mekmeks will live in all areas and never place territory's, mekmeks live everywhere but tundra and mountains. however will prefer forest and redwoods. Belluvaraptor: Bellus will hunt in packs, and when in a pack they will mainly only focus on hunting any tier 3 or lower, as long as they're alone. if a belluvaraptor dies than the other ones will flee, but if it is attacked and doesnt die than the other ones will help fight back, belluvaraptors will continue chasing creatures till they kill them or run out of stamina, belluvaraptors will sometimes nip at eachother in playful manners, but never kill, belluvaraptors will go everywhere but swamp, tundra, mountains, and volcano, they will normally live in mesa and desert though. alaksu: alaks will normally just roam around and eating plants in the water, they will only rarely go to land if they are being chased, alaksu are prey to everything so they are normally very skittish, so its best that if your trying to hunt one to go invisible, hide in water when one is taking a drink, or hide in a bush. if an alaksu finds another then they will normally stay together for life, they are also dumb and prefer to live in swamp but will go to other areas i needed. :3 Cottol: cottol have poor vision, so if you stay behind them they normally wont notice, they will often just stay near grass eating, and sometimes go for a drink, they will run from most things but will attack anything if it weighs less than them with, and they will do this at first as a warning, but if you get close again they will try killing you. going invis, hiding in water or bushes will also work to sneak up on them, like most tier 1's. frigiboa: they will normally live in tundra and mountains. frigiboa will eat anything that they find, including rotten meat, they will also harrass other creatures by nipping and screeching at them. frigiboas will often fight to the death with others of the same sex. but will never place territory's, if one frigiboa is killed than all the others will rush over to eat its carcass, even if the creature that killed it is still around. they will also attack any tier 1, with the intent to kill.
tier 2's: Diokrine: diokrine will pack hunt, and will often focus on any tier 4 or lower when hunting, when hunting they will all take turns running around and biting their prey, when the prey has over 20 poison, or necro poison then they will all rush in to finish the job, if the prey starts running then they will all take differnt sides, and chase it, biting it if they get close enough. Diokrine will never square off against eachother, and will often stay in fomrations often like a line or triangle, they will hunt every but desert, mesa, tundra and mountains. diokrine will also often move to new areas to find food. diokrine will also have one dio bit another creature, if the creature chases it then the others will pop out of bushes to surround it, then kill it. if one diokrine dies than the others will all often continue fighting. however if over half of the packs diokrines die than they will all run away to recoup. Hemoki: hemoki will often hunt alone they will focus on other tier 2's and 1's. however if they're dealing with a pack theyll run, hemokis are very aggressive, and will set territory's, when hunting, hemokis will often walk around and try killing anything that they find, however if they find a burrow they will often go in to kill anything inside. hemokis will often fight eachother if it gets in their territory. when a hemoki is below half hp and you are not than it will run away, often even scurrying into a burrow. they will also live everywhere but tundra and mountains. thats all i can fit in for now sadly, but i may make another project if people want for the other tiers and ideas
