Instructions

Cherrypaw “I’m gonna find the most prey!” A red she-cat smiled, running out on a grassy field. “When I’m a warrior, I’m gonna be the best hunter in all of StormClan!” She laughed. Cherrypaw had been an apprentice for three days already and she was enjoying the life of adventure. Another cat ran up to her. “W-wait for me.” He was out of breath. The sun was glazing the bushes and the heat settled into the fur of all the StormClan cats. “Hold up there you two.” Cherrypaw’s mentor, Amberstrike called. “A rabbit could hear you both if you keep the noise up.” The two young apprentices nodded their heads in agreement. “Sorry Amberstrike.” The red cat said, whisking her tail. The mentor pawed at the ground and then looked up. “It’s ok.” She mewed, softly. Cherrypaw softened her footing. A bush was rustling and the red apprentice thought that a rabbit was in the bush. She crept up slowly towards it and Hawkpaw, the other apprentice, followed behind. Suddenly, a cat pulled her back. Cherrypaw turned around to see that Hawkpaw was holding her fur in his grip. "Hey, do you smell that stench?" His nose crinked at the thought. But, now that Cherrypaw heard that, she smelled it too. It was a rotten smell, like a dead thing, and it was getting stronger and stronger the more they came towards the bush. When they arrived, a body was laying on the ground. "Who was that?" Cherrypaw asked, quietly. The body had claw marks on the neck and dried up blood was all around the cat. Hawkpaw just stared at her, tears almost building up in his eyes. "That poor thing." He mewed to the red-brown apprentice. Cherrypaw looked at the sky as it was turning black. "Come on." She said. As the two apprentices came back to their dens, she couldn't bother but wonder who that cat was.
