In an attempt to see if there is undiscovered life in the nearby planets, several large probes are sent to try and pick up radio or microwave signals coming from the planet's surface. We send two out, one to the planets to our left (for the map) and those to our right (again, for the map). They are escorted by X-35s until they pass the orbit of our moon.
