Enjoy! ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– “Bye darlings,” Our mother told us. She gulped nervously and looked as though she was on the verge of tears. “I will miss you. Hope you do well in the big world.” She started to cry as she hugged each of us, first me then my other brother whose name is bacon and then finally the youngest child, my little brother, whose name is pork chop. We set out after a quick goodbye and soon found a delightful little clearing to settle at. Oh yeah, and we’re pigs. “I shall settle here,” declared Pork Chop as he pointed at a lovely patch of grass. “And I shall settle here,” Pronounced Bacon and he too pointed at a lovely patch of grass only a few centimeters from the first house. “Don’t you think that might be a bit too close together?”I commented. “No,” replied Pork Chop. “We are brothers, and we live close together.” At this point I could see that there was no budging them even though I could see some obvious flaws in their plan. I settled a little way from them. We started to gather materials to build our houses. Pork Chop decided to go with straw that he collected from a nearby farmer. When I saw it I told him, “You should not do that because there is a wolf that roams near here and he is not merciful.” But, of course he wouldn’t listen to me and shook me off with a flick of his hoof. Bacon came back soon after with a humongous pile of sticks he had found in the woods. “You shouldn’t use those,” I told him. “There is a big bad wolf that roams and he has eaten our species before.” Like his younger brother, Bacon shook me off with a flick of his hoof. “Not to worry, eldest brother,” He replied. Don’t ask me why he called me that. He can just call me by my real name, Sausage. “My house of sticks and stones will be as strong as any house could be.” I sighed. They were never going to listen to me. “Allright, but if the wolf comes, don't come running to me,” I said. I went to a nearby house and asked if they had bricks. Sure enough, they did. They were so kind they even gave me a wheelbarrow to transport the bricks. It took Pork Chop exactly 1 day to complete his house. After he was done, he started to play. It took Bacon 3 days to build his house, and then he, too, went off to play with Pork Chop. It took me 1 week to finish. 1 week of grueling work, 1 week of treacherous tormenting. But of course the hard work was worth it. Just about after I finished building my house, there was a knock on Pork Chop’s door. A voice said, “Let me in, for I am the big bad wolf. Let me in!” “Noo! Not by the hairs of my chinny chin chin,” Replied Pork Chop. “Okay then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in.” So that’s exactly what he did. Then the wolf came in and gobbled him up. He did the same thing to Bacon and was ready to do it to me. He knocked on the door and sweetly said, “ Let me in! Let me in, or I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in!” And that’s what he did. At least that's what he tried to do. But it didn’t work. “Ha,” I told him. “You can’t get in and eat me.” That’s when he saw the chimney. He started to climb up the house. I had to do something, and quickly. I started a fire in the fireplace. I put a kettle on the fireplace and poured some water into it. I hoped it would heat up in time. A little while later I heard a splash behind me. It was that pesky wolf. “Please, have mercy,” he begged. I thought for a second. “Hmm… Let's see. Well you ate my brothers. Actually, thanks for that but I still don’t like you. So, no,” I answered bitterly. I left him there to boil. And yes, I did give him a funeral. But that was only because my brothers were inside him. The End!
