heey so i got a new fountain pen with assorted nibs (those are the tips) and this is the result! all of this is only really the good stuff... and it's all really spur-of-the-moment. i didn't really plan out any layouts or anything, nothing special. but there's some stuff that turned out nicely- and i must say this pen works much, much better than my previous one! my first pen was pretty cheap and i didn't take very good care of it... anywho, here goes! (note from now: i have learned that the nib i had was not really a very good one for calligraphy so that explains it) wait- one last thing, i'm kinda obsessed with the hobbit atm so a lot of it has to do with that... 1. thorin oakensheild (ugh spelled it wrong it's supposed to be oakenshield) king under the mountain (also i smudged the n with my hand sorry 'bout that) 2. it is well with my soul- classic saying, classic style of portraying. 3. ooh! a whole page! the black rectangle is my name. can't be showin' ya that. close-ups of the good stuff ahead! 4. father 5. love 6. barrel-rider (hobbit) 7. tolkien (hobbit- the creator of middle earth, actually) 8. i come from underhill and underhill and overhill my paths have led (technically it's under the hill(s) and over the hills but whatevs) 9. swish- this was kinda random 10. fate- i was writing "father" but i forgot the h and realized it by the time i finished the e and then i realized it spelled fate... so, that worked. it was fate! (lol sorry pun) 11. dad- the d doesn't look like a d, i know. blame my calligraphy book. it's the one with the weird alphabet. 12. mom 13. "can you promise i'll come back?" "no- and if you do, you will not be the same." -- "and who is the fifth wizard?" "radagast the brown." "is he a great wizard, or is he... more like you?" (buurn) (quotes may not be accurate, this was off the top of my head) (hobbit again) 14. another whole page! not a whole lot of good stuff but enough good-ish stuff for me to show you. experimentation with drawing in the upper right corner 15. calligraphy 16. joy and love - faith & peace - god and grace (afterthought "grace and mercy" might've sounded better but it works) 17. 3 rings for the elven-kings on their thrones 7 for the dwarf-lords in their halls of stone 9 for mortal men doomed to die and one ring to rule them all... (lotr) (and it's actually 3 rings for the elven kings under the sky and one ring for the dark lord on his throne- again, this was just off the top of my head.) 18. i see fire inside the mountain i see fire burning the trees (hobbit- i see fire) (i'm obsessed with the song) 19. love 20. our god is greater 21. another whole page- ugh! bloooot 22. love flutters unseen into the unsuspecting heart 23. vistors... come, stay awhile... stay forever! (lol this is something my dad says all the time apparently it's from an old video game) 24. it's at the tip of my tongue- oh, that's not a thought that is, in fact, a little stick insect.
