Eric's parents are being compensated for the loss of their respective son. There was no evidence beside the VHS found, The authorities kept the VHS in the containment center until further investigation. Originally, This VHS was supposed to be extended a lot further with a screen so it takes your webcam so it can see you and try to break out of the project into your pc like a virus but I scrapped it because it's overcomplicated & originally, It was only scratch-a.beta talking to you but I changed it for simplification and to expand the lore factor. The reason why the anti piracy screen was there is because of the original plan, That original plan was for it to be a corrupted pilot for the og scratch cat show. That would've been scrapped before scratch was a thing.
The teaser design might be scrapped because of how hard it is to make scratch-a.beta's design unique & familiar to the original design.
