These 4-6-4T Commuter engines were Built in 1923 by Baldwin for the CNJ. They were built to be ran in both directions at high speed. And did that job well. Due to a low fuel range they never left the commuter corridor often. They would do this simple task until the end of steam on the CNJ in the early 50's. None from the CNJ Were preserved. However designs alike them from the CNR Were preserved in small numbers.
