✦ “ what a waste of a lovely night … ” ✦ ✦ hello everyone! here’s a traditional process of a gift for our friend’s birthday :) her favorite movie is la la land, and we really love the design of this poster so we decided to draw it for her ✦ by the way, neither of us has seen this movie yet, so we’d appreciate avoiding spoiler-y comments ✦ space/click the arrows to proceed, click to zoom (script by @colorsnatch) ✦ materials used ✦ acrylic paper (bad idea, use *mix media* paper with markers) ; prismacolor col-erase pencils ; copic fine-liner (in the color “wine”) ; copic sketch markers ; white, fine tip posca 1 ✦ sketch ! here we figured out the poses and finagled it to a place we were happy with (we ended up doing probably 3 sketches, modifying it slightly each time. this is the final one we used to guide the lineart) 2 ✦ lineart and colors down (sorry this is a lame process we forgot to take pictures properly *sob*) the colors were difficult to find in our marker collection, but using some pencil over top we were able to shade it to a place we’re happy with (something you can see better in the close up) 3 ✦ background added (finished product) ! this really brought the piece together i think — we also used a combination of the markers and pencils to create this color, and the white posca to add in the stars 4 ✦ close up ~~ sorry for the graininess, but here’s a bit of a closer look at it ✦ overall, pretty pleased with the look of it, particularly the poses turned out well, i think ✦ hope you enjoy! ✦ credits ✦ whatever genius designed that poster and emma stone and ryan gosling for being the subjects (?) of the drawing lol us for the art audio is “a lovely night” performed by emma stone and ryan gosling, written by benjamin pasek, justin paul, and composed by justin hurwitz ✦ tags ✦ #traditionalart #traditional #markers #copics #poster #redraw #process
