Some of the characters featured are resigns of old characters or obscure characters I mentioned three years ago in a project and didn't even come up again. Just go with it. Uniform Refs: The Uniforms for trainees! These are what kids wear in the facilities, they get three sets of these and two sets of sleep clothes (which I have not designed yet.) The old designs of these uniforms was similar but with the kid's eye colour on the shoulders, which is nice in theory but I feel like the handlers at the facilities need a better system for the kiddos than "this one has green eyes" Ignore Reede's wrist colours here, they're no longer accurate because I said so. The categorization of the kids is not the most specific thing ever, but it definitely works. This design allows for movement, is sweat absorbent for training, and helps keep track of the kids (the diamonds on the back glow in the dark) Uniform Colour Guide: Since (most) powers are different from each other and vary from person to person, these categories are very broad, and oftentimes kids fit into more than one. This is just so handlers get a general idea of what a kid can do without having to read their entire file or even their identification sheets. The best example I have of this is Dyre, who's powers can be categorized as both travel and illusion, with his abilities to manipulate and travel through shadows. This also makes him a flight risk, which is why it's so important for handlers to know his abilities. The behavior and control are not necessarily connected either. Control indicate how much control a kid has over their powers. For example, Maddi is a red because his powers are constantly active and he can't determine whether they work positive or negatively (taking or giving energy), while the twins are orange because they have some control over what they can do with their powers, they just can't turn them off. The behavior is solely based off of how the kid acts, not the behavior of their powers. Maddi isn't a red here because his powers are that dangerous, he's a red because he puts up a fight and doesn't cooperate. Kiddos at 12: They haven't looked the same their entire lives (except Koel, who's so scared of change he's kept the same hair style for years) and this is also an example of how they were categorized in the facilities. You'll also notice that Levhi and Maddi have longer hair, which is explained in the next slide. In short, they're AFAB so the facility requires them to have longer hair. Same goes for Noa, who's AMAB and is required to have short hair. The most important thing to take from this is that Reede and Maddi are the troublemakers in the facilities, and Levhi is surprisingly the most well behaved out of the kiddos. You all probably thought it was Dyre, huh? That's mostly because Levhi was too scared to try and rebel, but we'll get into that later. You'll also notice that some of them have gloves. That's just because of their abilities making skin-to-skin contact dangerous. It's not limb markings like Reede's. Grooming Code: As previously mentioned, the grooming Code is very different for those the facilities deem as girls and boys. Maddi, as a trans man, is still required to have longer hair as seen in this image. Of course, hair cannot be too long or it could be a safety concern during training. You'll see the term "unless shifted" in a lot of these rules as well, this is because of the high population of shifters. They're often tasked with replicating other student's complexions for training, or giving themselves human disguises, which is the exception to the rule. The only other exception to the grooming code is hair obstructing vision, which you can see in Reede's younger design on the previous slide. Because he lost vision in his right eye, he is allowed to cover the space with hair if desired (thought the facilities usually make him cut it when he grows it out that long and make him use his patch instead.) All the guides are self-explanatory. If you have questions feel free to ask! I know sometimes I make things super complicated and confusing for no good reason, lol. As always, folks, have a lovely rest of your day/night :)
I love seeing fan creations so if anybody makes their own characters based off any of these guides make sure to send me a link! Which Witch - Florence and the Machine (Maddi's theme)
