Description

While production on FFATOC episode 7 is still being rocky. I'm creating a series of projects called "DLW/DFW: Brought to Life" in which I (and sometimes other people) take countries, companies, networks and other junk from the combined DLW and DFW wikis and you guessed it...bring them to life. About Apollo: Apollo Animation Ltd. (doing business as Apollo) is a British animation studio based in Oswaldtwistle owned by RKO Animation Studios, itself a division of RKO Media. Founded in 1986 by ex-Hanna Barbera animators and twins Michael and Tom Kearsley, Apollo was initially financially backed by Disney, who at first used the company as an animation outsource studio for television. Its first feature film, 1993's Robin Hood: Scourge of Sherwood, was an early critical and commercial success for the company. Disney (rather fittingly) served as the original distributor of Apollo's films and television shows (all branded the Apollotoons name during the 90s), with the Spellbinders franchise being the primary focus of the company. In 2002, RKO Media acquired Apollo and the distribution rights to their films (including those originally helmed at Disney). Under RKO ownership, the company drifted slightly away from producing animated films and mainly focused on television animation. Although the company continues to produce films albeit less frequently. Apollo is widely regarded as not only one of the best animation studios in the UK, but in the entire world too. Although, some longtime fans and ex-employees have become critical of the company's work under RKO. The original Apollo Animation article was created by Timebomb192potato
