Edit: LOL WHY DOES THIS ALL OF A SUDDEN HAVE 86 VIEWS- it's always the cat content, what can I tell you :") HAHHA STR ART AFTER LIKE 3? 4 MONTHS? This was so fun though. I decided to look back at my comic again and, again, I got invested. So maybe I might go back to it soon! But if I do, I'm going to try something different and not worry about what I'm doing because at this rate this comic is absolutely a super first-drafty first draft. So. :") So I might do that? I also might turn STR into a full sketch comic, just until I pick up the pace again, IF I do. Because like I've likely mentioned lots here, the topic of leaving has been on my mind a lot, and it might happen this year. So I guess I don't want to get you guys hyped for something that won't happen X'D I don't think I'll drop off STR though- 2021 me had something going hehe But anyways. Onto the teaser. Who's that cat in the corner? And why is Bladed looking down at a metal thing on his arm? And why is there WATER around him? >;") Probably won't be that hard to guess, to be honest lol alright onTO THE PROCESS lol 1. Sketch! I didn't show how the sketch went because you see, I decided I would record the process when I was at the shading. So I can't really show you any in depth stuff X'D 2. Lowered the sketch opacity and drew the lineart (on another layer obviously). Accessories went on another layer on top of the lineart as well. 3. Hid the sketch and did the eyes :") for some reason Crescent's eyes still look creepy lol- and I'm experimenting with how I do eyes on my second style, so that's why they look just a bit different- 4. Flat colours! Here's where I'll say this: if I do continue with colour, I simplified their designs just a bit and got rid of a few details that just…didn't do much or made sense or that I didn't like (like that W shape on Crescent, ugh I'm so glad that's gone why I did I put that there in the first place). I also changed some of their colours just slightly :'D I'll also mention that I put a layer mask on the lineart so I can hide any excess stuff underneath the accessories, just a quick lil hack ;') 5. Shading, my favourite part as always B)) 6. Colour adjustments for the shading hehe. Here's the thing: I got into a webcomic called Castoff, and…I'm taking a bit of inspiration from the artist, TheStarfishFace X'D one of the reasons for that is because her style is probably as similar as you can get (for now) with my style. And it's not even too similar lol. Soo I'm stealing a few aspects hA- and in her speed paints I see her adjusting the colour of the shading. Don't mind meee I also added shading to Starlight's earrings because I forgot earlier lol 7. Airbrushed some more shading in where needed yay (and dang those second style eyes are looking goooood-) 8. Lighting! At this point I'm really starting to like how this is coming together lol 9. Airbrushed some more lighting in because I felt like it ha and gave lighting to Starlight's piercings because I forgot again- 10. Now. For the effects/water. I was scared to do this. OvO (I actually recorded my process, but I didn't want the descriptions to be insanely long, so it's in the Notes and Credits B) look there and follow along, because otherwise you'll be very confused haha) 11. I waited a day to see if I was satisfied, (I tweaked a few things, like I smudged the water and made things cleaner) and then added some bounce light from the water B) (and also changed a bit of lighting with the arm guard but you can hardly see it whoops- don't zoom in too far kids lol) 12. adding some colour overlays because I was planning on putting one on the arm guard, and didn't want everything else to seem out of place because of that, so :'D (also a thing TheStarfishFace does lol) 13. aaand added some lineart lighting because I wanted to 14. Made just a few adjustments, added a watermark, and we're done :"D I wanted to add a non-effort background, but I couldn't get it to look right so I just left it. It feels empty without a background, but it works okay Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my process! And the teaser- and it sorta turned into a water tutorial as well except Frosty has no idea what she's doing lol Credits: Art: me Coding: me OCs (from top to bottom, left to right) ???, Bladed, Crescent, Starlight Song: Oleander - Mother Mother (because why the heck not)

Description

(Water process: - 1. just blocking in the general shapes with a regular hard round brush with transfer on :') - 2. Defining those shapes a little more, making them more water like with more motion, and added shading. Keep in mind this had me improvise a lot to get what I wanted, so I might not be able to actually describe what I did to get these looks X'D - 3. Hardening more parts, adding a bit of lighting, defining more edges. I tried referring more to a reference for this part :'0 - 4. Then I also noticed…water tends to be clear, not just one solid colour ;')) I just used a layer mask to erase some things with an airbrush lol. - 5. Adding more shadows and highlights to give it more glare and vibrancy and stu f f The lighting is on blending mode Hard Light, and the shading WAS going to be on multiply but then I accidentally went onto Colour Burn and it looks literally legendary so I kept it :") - 6. Then added a bit of some lines and things to actually make it fit with the rest of the piece and to make it more motion-y (sort of-) :'D)
