(Sarcasm if you couldn’t tell lol) Now presenting a (very short) Newsies Fanfic, totally not made up on the spot!! **winky face** Now onto the story… (TW: mentions of beatings, bruises) “Your best friend,” Crutchie looked down at the paper, before crossing it out. “Your brother.” “Enough already!” Someone called from the bunk below him. Crutchie sighed and blew out the candle and leaned back. He winced. His chest and back were bruised from where Snyder had hit him with his own crutch. “You okay?” Asked a quiet voice beside him. He looked over at the small boy who had spoken. His hair was dark, and he had a black eye. “Yeah,” Crutchie whispered hoarsely. “I’se just a bit sore. That’s all.” The boy blinked. “Where?” “Everywhere.” Crutchie tried to chuckle, but his chest burned, and his laugh turned into a cough. Crutchie blinked back tears. He turned his head away from the boy. The room was silent, until the boy spoke again. “Who’s the letter for?” Crutchie turned back to him, but then looked down at the letter in his hand. “My brother.” It was quiet, the only sound was the shuffling of the thin bedsheets and the whimpering of small children. “I wish I had a brother.” The boy whispered. “I’se got no one.” “Hey,” Crutchie sat up, wincing only slightly. “We’re in here together, so we’s got each other.” The boy nodded and shuffled closer to Crutchie. He put his head on Crutchie’s chest, and even though it hurt, Crutchie felt much better.
