Five First period decides it’s going to be the longest period. I sit while the teacher talks and talks until they finally let us work on stuff. I see Tori messing around with her pencil while she tries to focus on working. We have one minute of class left and we all start to pack up. The bell rings and everyone floods out the door to second period. The rest of the day flies by pretty quickly. I take my maths test, do experiments in science, walk around the school in my free periods, and read during lunch. We are in evening form now so Ari and Tori are in my class. Tori walks in and sits next to me. “Ollie! You seem…uh. How was your day Olive?” She smiles while making it obvious she wants to talk about the party. “My day…? It was um…normal I guess. Nothing really happened.” I flip through my book pages then Ari pulls a chair over and sits on it backwards. “Boo~” I turned around and saw him, smiling as if he had accomplished something. “Hi, Ari.” He sits there unsatisfied. “You don’t look very…” He looks me up and down, “Alive…” It’s funny because it's true. “You’re excited?” “Very…You’re not?” “I won’t say I’m not excited.” “I’ll pick you up at 5:45 so we’ll be there on time.” “Oh. Alright.” “When does form end?” “Uhm…in five.” Sigh. We all sit there, waiting for the dismissal bell to ring. Tori shows me something on her phone while we wait. We both laugh and giggle at a bunch of memes and she takes pictures. Finally, the bell rings. We all pack our stuff up and I head to my locker. Ari walks past and whispers in my ear, “Dress cute for me, Olivia.” I turn around and watch him walk away. I look back at my locker and start to smile. My heart races while I think about the party. I get my stuff and walk out of the school. Casey wanted me to ride the bus with him today, so I did. I’m listening to music when suddenly he takes one of my earbuds out. “Aren’t you going to Tori’s party?” I look over at him and nod. He doesn’t put my earbud back in so I look back over at him to see him listening with me. I don’t mind since it’s him. We make it home after 20 minutes of being on the bus. Casey and I walk in and I go up to my room and look for something in my closet to wear to the party. I sit there for a while looking through all my clothes. I found a white shirt and a pink cardigan. I decided to wear white jeans with it. I slip on black platformed Converse. I look at the time and it’s 4:30. I have a little bit so I just watch T.V.
Six It is now 5:27 which means Ari will be here soon. I sit on my bed with the T.V playing as I decide to check the blog. I open my laptop and start scrolling through everyone's blog. No one has posted anything interesting except for Tori posting about her party tonight. I sigh as I shut my laptop and flop back onto my bed. I stare up at the ceiling and think about the party. I thought about taking a nap but I knew it would mess up my hair, and Ari would be here soon. 5:34…Time is so slow when you’re waiting. I look back at the T.V and just watch for the time being. I didn’t want to eat because I didn’t want to look bloated before the party. Plus, there’s probably a lot of food there anyway. As I lie on my bed and watch T.V, I hear my doorbell ring. Oh… I jump up and run to the bathroom to see if I look presentable and fix my hair. I then trot downstairs and open the door. “Ari… H-hi!” I straighten my jeans. He’s holding a Red Carnation in his hands, it seems to be cut shorter. He’s wearing normal blue jeans, white Nike’s, and a pink button up. “You look…different?” He analyses my outfit. I giggle a bit. “I can’t tell if that was supposed to be a compliment or if you're just being mean.” He smiles. “I-I mean you look pretty. I’m not used to you being this….dressed up.” He seems to be a bit nervous. “Well, you did tell me to..um….dress cute.” He smiles a bit wider. “Oh! Uhm…” He takes the Carnation and puts it in my hair, the stem behind my ear. “This is for you! You can look up the meaning later.” I smile, which is weird because I don’t usually smile at these things. It’s been like this ever since the note. Such a short amount of time can really do so much. I already knew the meaning but I just nodded. “I..um…didn’t get you anything. Sorry.” “Don’t be. I didn’t expect you to.” We make eye contact for a second. He panics. “Sh-should we go, Olive?” He holds his hand out for me to take. I sit for a minute then take it without regard. Maybe this won’t be so bad. Maybe he isn’t so bad. We’re holding hands as we walk to Tori’s house. The sun is setting since it’s still winter, and it has an orangish red colour fading into a beautiful pink and the light blue of the sky. We make our way to Tori’s house to see a couple people already there. Tori’s family is pretty wealthy so they have three stories. We walk in to music playing and people chattering. We see Tori with Imogen and Kailee, and they’re laughing about something. More and more people start to surge into the house. She finally notices us and waves, letting us know she’s not ignoring us but still talking with everyone. I wave back, and so does Ari, and then he drags me off to go get food with him. “Look at all this food, Olivia!” He picks up a M&M brownie and gives me one. I smile and we grab a plate and start eating before we go and interact.
