According to folk lore fairies were feared by humans due to their unknowing powers. They were respected as creatures that protected the forest. Fairies can be both good and bad at any time. All Fairies can take on a human like appearance. Solitary fairies are fairies that live alone and not in groups. Trooping fairies are fairies who are in groups. Domesticated fairies are usually apart of a household with humans. Fairies sizes can vary and not all fairies have wings. A changeling is a fairy that transforms into missing children, they wouldn't look exactly like the person they would have sharp teeth, big beady eyes, and no facial hair. Fairies would take human children and replace them with the changeling children. Often this would lead to the changeling child to be abused, killed, or brought back to the woods. Leprechauns are a very common fairy you may have heard about. They are mischievous creatures but prefer to act alone. They spent their time making shoes to trade. If you were to "catch" a leprechaun they might show you the way to their gold but they're will be tricks along the way. Brownies/Boggarts are solitary house fairies. They would clean your house in return for sweets or a drink. Boggarts would however have a short temper and if they do not get what they want they will move houses. Brownies will turn into Boggarts, Boggarts will move furniture and pull on your ears at night. Pixies are a common fairy, they seem to be found living under the ground. They lived in big groups and played pranks on humans nearby, they will also kidnap humans but also be kind and bless humans if they appeal the pixies. Banshees means "woman of the fairy" they appear as both young and elderly, their eyes red shot due to their non-stop weeping they are known for. They usually appear when a family member has died, they scream and wail which you can hear for their arrival. They are always seen as bad news, they are known as young woman who died a brutal death, they waited for the people they hated to also die. Pagan deities and fallen angels were the earliest depiction of fairies. In the folk lore fairies were once angels who were demoted. God shut his gates to heaven and whoever was in hell turned to demons, the ones in between turned to fairies. Sooner or later the church saw all fairies as demons, fairies were associated with which craft. These fairies were seen as sinners remade to forever fly on earth for eternity
