song: shinigami - kenshi yonezu just so it’s not silent while you read, and it’s not very long so you should be able to read the entire thing before the song ends to clarify before i start yapping: ai is not completely terrible; where i draw the line is ai “art” and deepfake photos and videos. im gonna be covering like the broader idea of ai, not just images. it’s when ai is manipulated for malicious intent that’s the main issue this is all MY stance and you can feel free to disagree or make counterarguments! — — — — AI “ART” - - - - fellas say it w me AI “ART” IS NOT REAL ART imma just say that i have used ai “art” unknowingly as references for a few art pieces (<- for example). i know it’s pretty obvious the reference was ai, i just didn’t really know it at the time bc im a lil shallow and oblivious but i’ve learned from it :thumbsup: i do think that sometimes ai “art” can be useful for inspiration but it’s also unsettling. prompts for inspo is fine, but that should be where it stops real artists’ work is fed to the ai to replicate the styles of the original creators, and there are people who abuse this. as technology progresses it’s also getting slightly harder to differentiate it from real, human-made art. you can still tell most of the time, but others… it’s hella disappointing that there are people out there that post ai “art” for clicks, whether they say that it’s ai or not. the main point is that the image is generated and the person posts it on social media to farm views, likes, reposts, etc. AI DEEPFAKES - - - - some people may or may not be aware of ai deepfakes (since it’s been on the news a few times, in which they can be used to rig/mess with elections) there have been incidents in which deepfake audios/videos/photos are used to intentionally cause harm; i won’t really go into that because they are HIGHLY endangering and inappropriate, too much so to be discussed on scratch i think ai covers/audios of songs are fine; some of them are fun and well-made, like that one plankton ai cover of careless whisper (it’s actually good i’m being so fr). i don’t think ai covers will be too much of a problem for the time being and they won’t be replacing musical artists anytime soon since ai voices are modeled after those artists. without a baseline, there is no ai audio to replicate the person’s voice, and it’s easy to make out whose voice it is AI-GENERATED TEXT - - - - some aspects of ai can be fun, like c.ai for example; i’ve used it before and i mess around way too much w the gojo, geto, and sukuna ai and i tricked sukuna into thinking im an omnipotent being and now he bows down to me chat-gpt is admittedly pretty useful; i used it during science fair to help me organize my information, summarize articles (you know damn well i aint readin allat), and point out additional details of research that i didn’t catch onto. where i draw the line is using verbatim what the ai says and not doing ANY work at all last year, a few of my irls in my classes used chat-gpt for stuff like written responses on assignments. i didn’t really think much of it because honestly that’s their choice and it’ll be coming back to bite them, lacking the integrity and drive to just do it on their own. the way i approach things is how what i do will affect me in the long run if you’ve read all this thank you for reading! if you have anything you think is worth noting/adding, lmk :D it’s interesting to hear what people think about this topic
