Julie was a childhood friend of Jared's. This is a depiction of them during their teenage years. She was 3 years older than he was, and she was the one who helped him understand who - and what - he was, and what that will mean in terms of how he will go about his life. They lived across the street from each other (object residents are supplied with free housing courtesy of Echo Sierra), until one day a Deviant attack on their neighborhood left Jared without a home - and without his friend. Julie was kidnapped, never to be seen again. This incident has haunted Jared's dreams ever since. He... doesn't like to talk about it. Not even his friends in the S.o.I. know about his past with Julie. This incident marked the end of his jovial and carefree disposition, and molded him into the cold, emotionless man he is now. Jared was never really self-conscious when he was with Julie, but the attack left him vulnerable. He would give anything to see Julie again, but now, 10 years later, as the leader of the S.o.I, he is close to abandoning all hope of ever seeing her again.
