Description

NOTE: I decided to change the title from 'I'm quitting, but not in the way you think.' to 'The SOSC is dead, and it's all our fault.', because to be honest, it doesn't really feel right to quit. I'm still relatively active even after the removal of the studio, which is why I changed the project's name. This is regarding the controversy of the removal of the SOSC studio. On February 15, 2024 around 6pm EST, the SOSC studio was removed by the Scratch Team. This caused many users to rogue and create new SOSC studios, many of which were deleted. Back when I was in the SOSC in 2019, everything looked pretty good. I was interested in camps and making a lot of friends. When the 2019 SOSC was removed, @MegaGameAnimator decided to stand up and build a new SOSC. This one lasted for almost 4 long years. When I first joined that SOSC in 2021, things looked fine, then 2022 happened. The SOSC was getting a little too... out of control for my liking. The community was still a good place to live, but people started to become more and more obscene. I saw people start to bypass bad word filters, start to make more jokes that Scratch deems 'too sensitive for an 8-year-old demographic', and even more things like object shipping. At this point, it started to turn into a heckhole on what not to do on Scratch. There is a reason why both SOSCs were removed, and it likely has to do with the obscenity of the people a part of it. The Scratch Team did not remove the SOSC because they were "anti-fun police", but because the content we were showcasing was too sensitive for the 8-year-old demographic that Scratch was meant to be for. We have forgotten what Scratch was for. We initially used it because we wanted to make our own games, animations, art, and stories. But now, us SOSC users just use it to make projects that were made to troll other users. Maybe the SOSC should probably stay on the unmoderated chat site I cannot say. I know I've rambled on long enough about this, which is why I'm moving back to @TheGr8CreeperPlayz, while also occasionally being on @marillfan77. More information on that in the fourth paragraph. Also, one more thing regarding the SOSC, please don't make any more SOSC studios to replace the now-deleted one by @MegaGameAnimator. I don't want any more users to end up getting blocked for something so minimal. Someone claims that Mega is trying to consult the Scratch Team about bringing it back, so that's some news for you. And if you still want to talk about the SOSC, you can go on the SOSCR, but I doubt it'll be here for long. My last comment I posted there was "The SOSCR got lucky with its followers", which was meant to be referencing the fact that it had 777 followers at the time. The SOSC once had over 80 thousand projects in the studio before its deletion. To be honest, I'd probably be more inactive either way, mostly due to the fact I'm now in the 11th grade, and being in the 11th grade is so much hard work. You barely get any free time to work on any projects. Anyways, if you're wondering what exactly will I be here for, It'll likely be for short animations, UTS, BFAMY3, WCC, voice acting, and projects that I update sometimes like 'YTYOOCIO?'. Everything else will be on other accounts. @TheGr8CreeperPlayz for more generic animations and projects, and @marillfan77 for Pokémon content. Actually, I started making more SOSC content on there. I recently created the Pokémon Object Show Community around 2 hours before the SOSC died. I also had plans on making a parody of @EnderCode050's SOSC YIAY there, with the questions relating more to Pokémon. This speech has gone on long enough, so let me just say this. "The thing that has brought us all together has died, and so has my motivation." Until next time.
