Rosie of the Woodlands Chapter Three Roxy and Rosie turned their heads, and to their horror, there was a giant beast. There were the soldiers behind it, and they could see that one had a gun in his hand. Roxy could barely move, and Rosie hugged her tighter. It seemed as if the beast was going to devour them whole, when they heard a loud screech, and then a huge thud. The two girls both opened their eyes, and saw that the beast was lying on the ground. They saw that a boy was behind it. He had a heroic look in his eyes, but immediately Rosie took a dislike towards him. “Well, it seems as if my work here is done,” he said triumphantly. Roxy and Rosie looked at him, then each other. They quickly let go of each other, and looked away, blushing. Roxy was the first one to say anything “Thank you for saving us!” Roxy bust out. “I’m sure we could have fought it off.” Rosie said under her breath, but Roxy caught it, and turned her head sharply at Rosie. “Uh, what I said was, thanks so much.” Rosie said, with no emotion. Roxy sighed, and turned her head back to look at the boy. He seemed their age, maybe a bit older. He had jet black hair, and was wearing a black hoodie with jeans. “No problem, miss. I do what is needed.” he said. Rosie didn’t like the sound of that. I do what is needed? She thought to herself What could that mean? Roxy saw that Rosie didn’t seem to like the boy, it seemed she was about to say something about him too. “How did you know the bea-” Roxy cut Rosie off. “WELL, since we just met, why don’t we introduce ourselves?” Roxy said with a warm smile, even though she was very annoyed with Rosie. “Oh, well, my name is Kurt. Kurt Jhoothbolana.” The boy said. Rosie snorted. What kind of name is Kurt? Roxy kicked Rosie in the leg, then introduced herself “My name is Roxy Mtazamaji! Nice to meet you Kurt! And this is Rosie Krasnaya Roza-Lopez.” she said, pointing to Rosie. “Well, hello Roxy and Rosie!” “You, Kurt, can call me Rose. Only friends can call me Rosie.” Rosi said, smiling a smile that was supposed to offend Kurt. Though Rosie couldn't see it for sure, she thought he took the memo. Roxy could sense the tension, so she decided to ask Kurt a bit about himself, hoping maybe him and Rosie could relate on something. “So, Kurt, you seem good at fighting! Is it something you're used to?” As this question was asked, it seemed as if Kurt was a bit uncomfortable with the question. “Well……you see……” he stammered “My, uh, brother, Damon, taught me……..” Rosie instantly grew cold. She froze in place. That name…….I’ve heard it somewhere…… Where had she heard it? She shook off the feeling, but borrowed her eyes at Kurt. He noticed that she looked suspicious, and looked down. “Well, um, Rosie and I are really good at fighting too!” Rosie looked at her, forgetting about the name. “Oh, yeah, Roxy here is the best warrior in the whole Mir.” Rosie said sarcastically. “So maaaaybe I’m not the greatest fighter in the world,” Roxy said, sheepishly “but I’m still better at fighting than some people.” She turned her head to the other villagers, who had gone back to their daily shopping, since the beast was gone. “It’s gotten a bit late, hasn’t it?” Roxy asked. Rosie looked at her watch “It’s 6:00. HOW HAVE WE BEEN HERE FOR 6 HOURS?” “Oh, well, dinner should be ready soon.” Roxy said, looking at the amount villagers gradually decrease. “Oh, Kurt! Would you like to stay for dinner?” “Oh, that would be great! Dhanyavaad!” Kurt exclaimed. “Y’know, my parents are making pasta for dinner.” Rosie said slyly, looking at Roxy. “And there will be pesto….” Roxy jumped up. “OMG! PESTO??? SIKU BORA ZAIDI! WE ARE GOING TO YOUR HOUSE!!!” Before Kurt could say anything, Rosie pointed in the direction of her house. “C’mon, it’s this way!” “Ise apashabd kahen.” Kurt whispered, as they headed in the way of Rosie's house.
