Without further ado, welcome to the leader applications for the April 2024 session of Camp Astrophilia! ✭ Space, arrows or tap to advance *NOTE: there is a typo in the project where it says the deadline is Feb 15th, it's supposed to be the 5th <3 ✭ FAQ Please read over the entire section, whether you have or have not led in the past - What is Camp Astrophilia? CA, or Camp Astrophilia, is a triannual online camp that runs through the month of April, August, and October. You can set goals for yourself at the beginning when you sign up, and try to reach them by the end of camp, which is the end of the month. There are 6 cabins (subject to change every session), and you'll be placed in one of them. There's also a competitive aspect between the cabins, winning by working together with your cabinmates and leaders to get as many stars as possible through different engaging activities. - What does CA stand for? CA stands for Camp Astrophilia! Astrophilia means love of and/or obsession with planets, stars, and outer space. - How is CA different from other Scratch camps? Most other camps are focused on a specific aspect, like writing, art, photography, and more. In CA, you're free to set a goal for (almost) anything, as long as it's allowed by the hosts and doesn't violate the Community Guidelines. CA also encourages learning more about yourself and discovering parts of you that you haven't yet explored yet, as well as to see things from different aspects. There's more, you'll find out as camp starts! - What are the cabins? We have a different overall cabin theme every session. For instance, the October '23 session had jewel-themed cabins. Here are the six cabins this session: ⋆ Crystal Palace ⋆ Disco City ⋆ Mystical Forest ⋆ Starlit Slopes ⋆ Sunset Island ⋆ Undersea Realm - How do I apply? Remix this project with your answers and preferably a new theme. Let your creativity shine through! Please don't just write one to two sentences, but keep in mind we won't have time to read through a thousand-word essay. If your answer fills anywhere from one to three slides, you should be good ;) - How many cos can I have, and can I choose who to lead with? Since we don't have a co system this session and all cabins only have one leader, no. Last session many cabins ended up with one leader only, so the rules have been slightly adjusted to fit our current state. - What are the responsibilities of a leader? As a leader, you will have to: ⋆ Update you cabin's word/minute counts regularly and consistently ⋆ Get involved, plan out and create your cabins by a week before camp starts ⋆ Maintain balance among personal life and CA, and encourage campers to do the same. Please do not, and do not ever give up sleep or your other tasks just because of CA. ⋆ Encourage campers and don't put pressure on them! Please understand that there are responsibilities as a leader and that dedication to the camp is very important. If you're going to sign up, do consider the possibility of being selected for CA when you sign up for any other camp. - When will results be announced? Selected leaders will be notified by February 8th! 4 leaders will be chosen to lead a cabin, alongside the two of us hosts. This is, however, subject to change with the amount of applications. - I don't want to apply, but can I sign up as a camper? Definitely! Camper signups will be shared on Coral (@Pun-derful)'s profile on March 1st.
