Slugcats have evolved to be much more intelligent, civilized, and in tune with their karma. Lost Echo, after being separated from his family in a snowstorm, finds himself completely lost in a entirely different region. Being unable to find another settlement, Lost Echo wonders the frozen hellscape, his goal slowly progressing from finding his family to reaching max karma. As slugcats evolved, their abilities changed drastically. They evolved an extra pair of arms, giving up their throwing skills for more devastating melee attacks. It became taboo to show their faces, especially their eyes, hiding instead behind masks. As they adapted to the snowy landscape, they became more in touch with their karma. Legends foretold that of a slugcat that made the perilous quest to karma 10, gaining the ability to ascend those incapable of such feat, instantly. Lost Echo, however, simply wanted to ascend himself. To just escape the cycle, as he had given up on finding his family. He rushed to the depths, or rather, the decaying ruins of the depths, only using his newfound ability to get creatures out of his way. Unfortunately, as he descended deeper and deeper, all he found was an iterator. Ironically, the best functioning one he had seen yet, which says a lot considering void fluid was actively pouring out their puppet's head. He seemed ecstatic to see Lost Echo, introducing himself as VoA (temp name??). VoA seemed.. slightly crazy, talking about travelling back in time and 'fixing' everything. He insisted that Lost Echo was the final component he needed. He didn't have anywhere else to go, and VoA didnt seem like he wanted to let Lost Echo leave anyways, so he might as well play along. Turns out VoA, in all his time stuck down in the void due to his failed ascension attempt, did, infact, figure out time travel. But, that might of had a few.. unintentional side effects. and that was just his backstory, btw. sorry if it was a bit disorganized thats how lore dumps kinda are
