Yes, this makes the track feel more like a Traditional Mario Kart course. I might add more stuff to it. Should this become the new Star Road? It'll make it more fun. If anyone doesn't know, then the blue arrow is a glider ramp and the small yellow arrow is just a little jump. The alternate path will also contain star pendulums, which you avoid.
