This is all speculation, none of it is, (as far as we know) canon to the Tales of Perfectheart series. This also doesn't mean any other theories are invalid, personally, I just think mine make a little more sense. Again, this doesn't mean there's anything wrong with others theories everyone has their own opinions. Anyway, theory time! Mehehehehe I know I’m right about this I’ve seen so many people theorize about this theme song, and personally I think I have the most well-rounded view that is ample for theories about how this fits Saffronpaw. I'll just be going over what most people have theorized over this song, and putting in my two cents about what it could mean. Let’s start with the most curious parts of this: 1. “Houndpaw is a danger to us.” Saffron believes Houndpaw may be in danger, but quickly seems to change his opinion, believing Houndpaw is a danger to them. (WindClan) From what most people have thought, Houndpaw is the danger. I think otherwise. We already know, in the comic, Cottonstar believes it will be okay to unveil Houndpaw at the Clan Gathering, hoping it will not disrupt the peace. Saffron believes they should strengthen their alliances first to build trust among the clans that Houndpaw is not a danger. Saffron thinks Houndpaw is in danger from the other clans, but realizes he may be a danger to WindClan because the other clans won’t trust them. Makes sense? 2. The Notes. All the notes in the background of the art point towards turning points in Saffron’s life, as well as the ones along the lines of “I know I’m right” just being hints towards CottonStar refusing to listen to Saffrons alliance suggestions. These also tie into the “Houndpaw is a danger” notes. 3. The “X” So many people are curious about what the X on Saffron's eye means. They think it may hint towards something in the comic, but I think it points towards the song. I believe the X is a hint towards Spirit Phone, the Lemon Demon album Touch-Tone Telephone is from. The album cover is Neil Cicierega, (Lemon Demon) in a redscale pallet, with a glare/glint over his left eye. Just like Saffronpaw in the art. My personal theory about this is that Ranboo saw the art and wanted to hint towards Spirit Phone, and not an event in the comic. (Also by the way the Spirit Phone Album is awesome and my personal favorite Lemon Demon album go listen to it) I'd also like to go over what Touch-Tone Telephone itself is about. "So, this song is about a very dedicated caller into a radio show who thinks he's got it all. Figured. Out. And just NEEDS to explain it."- (Neil Cicierega, Spirit Phone commentary.) The quote above is from the commentary track explaining the lore of the album. It should make the lore of the song obvious enough, but there is more to go off of. If we were to compare Saffronpaw to the alleged conspiracy theorist (protagonist? POV? IDK I'll just go with POV.) of the song, we already can tell that the two of them think they've both got something figured out well enough, and need to explain that they're right. The commentary also states that this theorist in the T-TT lore, has never gotten a chance to explain anything so "the truth never comes out" both Saffronpaw and the theorist are looking for someone who will listen to them. (Also BTW Ranboo, I hope Saffronpaw, once he's Saffronstep, should be deputy. I think he'd be a decent leader!) Anyway, that was a Lemon Demon fan side rant about how well this fits Saffronpaw. I guess that's it for the theories! Until next time Saffronpaw wants the truth to come out of his very own mouth! *retreats back into the Aether to listen to Spirit Phone*
