Homo floresiensis, also known as "the Hobbit", is an extinct species of archaic human that lived on the Indonesian island of Flores until around 50,000 years ago. The first fossils of Homo floresiensis were discovered in 2003 in Liang Bua cave, along with stone tools and animal remains. Homo floresiensis were about 3 feet 6 inches tall, with small brains, large teeth, and relatively large feet. They were bipedal, but their feet were primitive and their gait was inefficient. They were also known for making stone tools for hunting.
