Her father was killed by an assassin before she was born and her mother died protecting her egg from another assassin. She hatched in Aku Island Orphanage and that was where she grew up. She was considered more of an outcast by the other dragonets of the island, due to her not having parents and being different from everyone else. She found out she was an animus when she turned 5 and she kept it hidden from everyone else in fear that someone would try to use her. She had always dreamed of leaving Aku Island and going to meet dragons from other tribes but she never got the chance until she turned 7. A flier for Jade Mountain Academy was on a shop in the village, and as soon as she saw it she ripped it down and ran to the orphanage's headmistress and asked if she could go. The orphanage let her go and she left the island with her talons tingling with excitement. Although a bit of fear of being discovered mingled with her excitement she pushed it away.
