She decided to call the little blue kit Wynter, because the she-kit was born in winter. The father of the kit had died in a battle against a fox a moon before Splash had her daughter. Splash died of a severe chest infection when Wynter was just five moons old, so the blue she-cat decided to go and live by herself in the forest, and fend for herself as a young, strong she-cat.
