For the record, I personally don’t usually refer to myself as disabled - I’ve just never felt a particular connection with the word, and I usually just use neurodivergent anyway. But I also wouldn’t mind someone else referring to me as disabled, either, or calling autism a disability. When you’re talking to individuals, just ask them what terms they feel comfortable with being used for them.
