The image, captured by a civilian, shows 2 NSDF soldiers, Chen Tao (right, rifleman), and Zhang Yu (left, marksman), 10 minutes before becoming KIA on patrol. Chen Tao and Zhang Yu, both served in the Second Naidun War and the SATO invasion of Naidun. They both served together, forming an inseparable brotherly bond forged through combat. Chen and Zhang were both born in Jing Kong. After crossing the corner, as shown in the photo, Chen stepped on an IED, instantly incapacitating him, right before they were ambushed by NFP fighters. Unexpectedly, Zhang was not hit, instead pulled Chen back into a small vacant noodle shop. Zhang radioed for CASEVAC while treating Chen's wounds with a tourniquet. Chen's leg was [REDACTED], leaving extreme blood loss. As NFP members advanced into the building, Zhang neutralized 3 NFP militants with his rifle, swiftly switching to his secondary and taking out 2 more. As the sounds of helicopter rudders echoed around, gunshots rang out throughout the streets, both from Zhang and the advancing NFP militia. At this point, Chen had lost a substantial amount of blood. As the NSDF CASEVAC landed, Zhang was shot in the back of the head, just missing his helmet by an inch, as the NFP members finished off Chen. Chen and Zhang were declared dead at 1:10 AM, on 1/10/202X The entire encounter was filmed by cameras outside the noodle shop.
