Art: @RandomMidoriya Characters: R, Caleb [@RandomMidoriya] Song: For the Fans - Toby Fox I went outside for the first time in weeks. I didn't want to, but I only did it for my mom. She's been begging me for days to go out with my friends, and I finally caved. But only because my mom has been through enough already. So I just went. I met up with Claire, Caleb, and Azul in the forest. They were beyond happy to see me. Well, at least Claire and Caleb were. I really want to assume Azul was happy to see me, but I've never seen that girl smile once. I'm going to hope she was glad I got out, though. We were out there for maybe 9 hours, and entire time we were out, the only word I said was "Ow" when I accidentally walked into a tree branch. We were out there until it got dark and we all climbed up the hill that overlooked the city. Claire, Caleb, Azul and I sat down on the very top of the hill in silence, and I hardly moved. I just stared coldly over the city. Claire glanced over at me, suddenly looking at her brother and punching him in the shoulder, making him yelp like a scared little girl. Usually I'd laugh at that, but I didn't. Claire frowned, until her eyes lit up and she suddenly turned to Azul. "Azul, you have 10 seconds to run! Otherwise I'm throwing at stick at your head!" She exclaimed, picking up a thick branch from the ground. "No. Don't you dare." Azul said with little to no emotion in her voice, but her eyes went wide as she immediately got up and ran back into the forest. "Hey, I wanna play with you guys!" Caleb whined, getting up and watching them run off. "You play this game with us all the time! Stay and keep R company, okay?" Claire grins, chasing after Azul. I muttered something under my breath, my tail brushing against the grass behind me as I angrily stabbed a leaf with it. If I had the energy, I'd make Claire pay for that later. But I didn't feel like it. I was going to let her off the hook either way. I buried my chin in my knees and huffed, noticing the disturbed look on Caleb's face as he stared at the leaf that was melting away on the needle of my tail, but I quickly looked back out to the city. The last person I wanted to be alone with right now was Caleb, but Claire being the slippery little snail she was, she just couldn't help herself. After a minute or two, Caleb walked over and sat down next to me, adjusting the sleeves of his sweater awkwardly before turning to face me. "Hey." He muttered. I just glared at him out of the corner of my eyes, still hiding the bottom half of my face in my knees. Caleb looked at me sadly, setting his hands down on his legs as he sighed. "Are you... Gonna be okay...?" He asked hesitantly. I wasn't planning on answering his question, but something pushed me to do so anyway. I lifted my head and looked over at him for just a second before staring back at the floor. "I... I hope so." I mumbled. It had been so long since I had spoken, I had forgotten what my own voice sounded like. And my "ow" earlier didn't count. Caleb must have been surprised I even responded at all, because his eyes widened slightly. "Wow... I honestly thought I'd never hear you speak again... How the hell did I do that?" He laughed nervously, looking away from me. I didn’t respond. Caleb's smile melted away almost immediately. "Uh, Sorry... Maybe I shouldn't have said anything..." He mumbled. We both sat in silence for a few minutes, occasionally hearing a distant scream from Claire somewhere in the forest, but no noise from Azul. I wondered what was going on in there. For a while, I seriously debated running. Running away from everyone, back home to my room where I'd lock myself away and never come out, when suddenly my thoughts were interrupted from Caleb standing straight up and yelling at me. "R! Look!" He exclaimed. When I looked up I saw a bright light streaking through the sky. A shooting star. It was Biscuit's dream to see one, and he never got to fulfill it. Caleb helped me off the ground as I stood up with shaking hands, rubbing my arms as I looked up at the glorious star that blessed the night sky. "Make a wish, R!" Caleb told me. And I did. ... "I wish Biscuit was here to see this." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LONG OVERDUE UPDATE ON YOUR GIRL R, SADLY SHE ISN’T DOING MUCH BETTER. But at least she’s got her friends who care enough to try so hard to cheer her up. I’m so sorry R. Get better, girl <3
