The fast headcrabs are genetically modified headcrabs that have been modified to be faster than normal headcrabs. When they infect a host they inject a chemical that decomposes most of the skin and flesh of their victim, making them be a deformed skeleton with small bits of flesh on them. They make their hosts this way so that they can become faster.
