Instructions

Go to Notes/Credits for thorough explanation Imma try to give this a rating based off this chart that I just created. 1 is the lowest, 5 is the highest Ease: 4 (parts are hard to get off the sprue, and some were too small so they were too fragile, as well as additional modifications having to be made despite the fact it’s meant for beginners) Quality: 4 (accidentally broke two parts while trying to get them out, and stand parts didn’t have a tight fit) Challenge: 5 Fun Factor: 5 Resources: 3 (Half of the paint came dried up, preventing me from finishing the spitfire) Cost: 5 Instruction clarity: 4.5 (No instructions on how to make the stand itself, could go into a bit more detail) Cool Factor: 5 Total: 35.5/40 Estimated Star score: (Out of 5) 4.4/5

Description

Today, I got an Airfix set for Christmas, and aside from a few downsides, it was fun to make. I first wanted to make the stand, however there were no instructions on how to make it, so I skipped to the Spitfire. The Spitfire helped me get the basics on how to build everything, and the resources given were a huge benefit, especially the modeling cement. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize it at first, but to get it to get on the stand, you would have to drill two holes in between the wings. Since this is meant as a starter set, this was a minor annoyance, since me, as a starter, wouldn’t have a drill with me, or the experience to do it precisely. Another huge downside was the fact that half of the paint came dry, however I was able to revive one and had paint to replace another, however I could not fully paint the Spitfire. Building the 109 was slightly more difficult, with smaller and more fragile parts. I ended up accidentally breaking the nose cone and central canopy. (managed to put the canopy part back together) Aside from all this, it was still really fun to put together and I was still satisfied with the results so far. I will still try to find brown paint to finish the spitfire.
