This program emulates Conlon Nancarrow's Etude for Player Piano #21 algorithmically. Nancarrow originally composed this piece for player piano by cutting notes and durations directly into a blank player piano roll. Roughly, this piece starts with constrained random notes at a slow tempo on the low part of the piano. After a couple seconds, a second musical line consisting of very fast high pitched notes enters. As the piece progresses, the low, slow notes get higher in pitch and speed up, while the initially high pitch notes gradually slow down and descend in pitch - crossing in the middle. In this program, the initially low & slow musical line gets faster by 3% for each note that sounds. The initially high and fast musical line gets slower by .9% for each note sounded. The centerPitch variable is decreased by 1 every .24 seconds and the centerPitch2 variable is increased by 1 every .24 seconds. Press "p" to hear the original Nancarrow piece. Press "s" to stop all sounds. Press "space" to hear the algorithmic model of the Nancarrow piece. ***NOTE: This piece WILL NOT WORK in Turbo Mode.
