This week was... eventful. Turns out, Socks is extremely good at hunting. She caught a lot of prey that otherwise only Shansu would be able to catch, and all of her attention is keeping good health, so she isn't hunting much. Speaking of Shansu, she's very good at healing. We needed that and still do. Birch's leg got infected, even though I take her to a stream daily to wash it. The infection spread through her body, and she has a fever aswell as other symptoms such as coughing, stuffy nose, and fatigue. They're worse than we thought, and Shansu is working extremely hard to try and fix Birch. I'm scared, but Shansu tells us to stay away from Birch in case she caught something else and she was contagious. Tucker's doing his best to comfort me, and it works sometimes. With winter here, and me losing half of my tail, this is just another issue. For now, I'm focusing on getting food to the cave to give to Birch. I saw her today, and she didn't look good. I'm sure she'll pull through though. Shansu is extremely stressed about it, and when I asked her, she said that her mate had the issue Birch is having, and he ended up being really weak and ultimately being killed by humans. I haven't seen a human in this area, but there's always a possibility.
