I had followed Midnight out into the middle of the Kalarian woods. She wanted to show me something, something hidden from me, the goddess of wisdom. She halts suddenly, and I almost fall from the sudden stop. She stares at the rising moon, as the sun sets behind us. “Mother?” she calls up to the rising moon, though there’s no response. Nyx is dead, and Midnight has no one to guide her path as the second generation's night goddess. As the mortals call us, at least. “I’m sorry, Midnight… It truly isn't fair that you have to deal with this…” I mumble. She recently found out about the death of her mother. She was killed, protecting me from my father, Hades. “If there's anything I can do to help-“ I start to say, but what happens next, will affect us all for the rest of our lives to come. Midnight suddenly grabs my shoulders, and forces me to look into her eyes. “Help me?! You hurt me! It's your fault she's dead!“ She's lost it. She thinks it's my fault. A new darkness swirls inside my chest like a twister, it feels like I'm freezing from the inside out. “Midnight! S-stop! You're going to throw everything out of balance-“ I try to plead with her, but she just stares into my eyes with cold, dark hatred. “Balance?!“ She shrieks as the cold sensation inside of me starts to get stronger, making me feel weak and helpless in her grasp. “You have no right to speak of balance!“ My eyes widen in terror as my vision slowly starts to blur. She reaches for my bracelet, and I manage to choke out, “Don't t-touch th-that- it'll kill me-“ Midnight just shrugged it off, and then she grabbed my wrist with one hand. She kept her right gripped on my shoulder, and her left on my wrist. One wrong move and I'd have been dead, lost to this world. “That's the goal.“ She growls at me. I'm completely at her mercy now, and she's not going to give me a quick and painless death. I was sure of that. I can feel everything that happens to my bracelet. It's tied to my life source, in a way. “Midnight… I never meant to hurt you…“ I whisper, hoping to get to the Midnight that I know, and the Midnight that I´ve always loved. “You still did.“ She had hissed in my ear, causing me to shudder. I tried and tried to plead with her, but she was gone. She´d lost it. She had reached her breaking point, and I had no way to save her, nor myself. I tried to rip my right arm away from her, but she just tightened her hand around my wrist. Everything was blurring out. She let go of my shoulder, and I sank to my knees. I cried out in pain as the gem in my bracelet pulsed. She pulled it off my wrist, and I fell to the ground as I slid out of her grip. I lay there, as she clasps it in her hands. She squeezes the bracelet with both hands, it felt like I'm being crushed from all sides. I twitched on the ground, whilst Midnight just smiled to herself, enjoying my pain. “Sorry.“ She had a glint in her eye- a murderous one. “Stop Midnight! You're not thinking righ-'' The wind was knocked out of me as Midnight slammed a foot on my back, pinning me to the ground. I struggled and strained to get free, but to no avail. She had me, I was helpless. “Stop?!“ She yelled back. “You have no right to such mercy! She wouldn't be gone if it wasn't for you! She'd be here! She's dead! And it's all your fault!“ She screamed, completely losing herself in her grief. “Enjoy your eternal punishment! You shall never see the light of day again!“ She shrieked. Everything starts to blur together, and the sounds slowly start fading out. “I'll let you rot! You will face my wrath for eternity…“ Midnights shrieks and screams got quieter and more distant. Then suddenly, everything went black.
