Hayes grew up in Dirtmouth, he was interested in adventuring and mapping. He visited the mines below often to look at ancient statues, exotic ruins, and even vast growth filled caverns and it's creatures. During Hayes' small trips he came across a panicked creature known as a "Tiktik" and upon further inspection he saw that it's mate had been infected by an ancient disease, named "The Bright Light." Instinctively, he took it back with him to Dirtmouth, where it then became his best friend, and adventuring buddy. More or less, a pet. He warned the locals of the possible infection that could swarm all of Hallownest but nobody believed him, let alone knew what this "Bright Light" Infection was. So he gave up. He left Dirtmouth, and moved on to a place far away. Later he was informed that Hallownest in-fact did get swarmed. A pity. Hayes is overprotective of his Tiktik, who he named Tixie. He treats her as if it were his own daughter. He ventures and maps out his findings as a hobby. Due to his constant travel, he does not make many friends. He appreciates nature and does not raise his nail unless threatened prior.
