It was a very harsh and even bloody separation, and as such, the father wanted no part in raising the kits. Sleetshimmer was not a good cat, and as such, not a good mother, and Verglasdust and Frozenpaw grew to apprentices with little support— especially since once they were four moons old, Sleetshimmer left the clan. Verglasdust was apprenticed to the oldest nightsearcher in the clan, and although his mentor was skilled, his age was affecting his cognition. In Verglasdust’s mid and late apprenticeship Blizzardscratch would do things such as leap at Verglasdust from hidden positions with claws unsheathed to ‘prepare’ him for animal attacks, or purposefully scare away his prey to make him a better hunter. It made Frozenpaw leaving two moons before they became fully trained to go find their mother that much worse. Blizzardscratch himself died a half moon before Verglasdust became a nightsearcher, and instead of assigning him a new mentor for half a moon, they simply assessed him and gave him his name. ╰┈─➤ current state: As of right now, not much is going on with Verglasdust. As long as you don’t scare him, whether purposely or accidentally, he’ll be peaceful and friendly enough. ╰┈─➤ goals: One of Verglasdust’s main goals is to undo the affects his apprenticeship had on him; for example, he wants to lash out less when startled and be less anxious when out in the dark.
