After enough upgrades done on one specific stat, that upgrade in question will be maxed out. You will not be able to upgrade that stat any longer when it is maxed out. The game does have an objective. When you get 10000 paper, you beat the game. Once you have beaten the game, a pop-up will appear saying that you beat the game.
