I’m naming the character Selene for the story purposes. The name might change anytime. Short story excerpt (If it looks unfinished, it probably is. I need to take regular breaks in the middle of writing this, so I might have to go at the point when the story isn’t finished. I will try to finish it though.) Selene was in a bad mood. ‘Of course, no one would care….’ she thought to herself miserably. She had just lost her lotus crystal pendent. Her sacred, generation-passed-down, beautiful lotus pendent. “If only I was quicker in helping May plant the flowers….” She sighed to herself. It was only this morning, when she placed her pendent on a rock beside the pond where she helped her best friend, May, plant crops. She got so lost in the task, that by the time when she saw the… shadow… creep on to her necklace, she was too late. Her friend agreed to help her look for the pendent, but Selene knew that May was too busy. Nontheless, she still accepted the help gratefully. ‘Why did I not keep a better eye on it….’ She muttered silently to herself. ‘Why did I even take it off in the first place?’ Selene wasn’t usually so concerned when she lost a possession… but the lotus crystal pendent… well, it was special. The pendent wasn’t *just* an expensive little necklace, it was enchanted. It had the power of controlling natural phenomenons. Auroras, typhoons, bioluminescent mushrooms only occurred because the power of the pendent was not broken. But it had another, even more important use. Mostly, it helped keep balance between the fight or flight situations. The pendent held the secret of the flight, or better worded, the beauty of peace. Of course, like everything, the pendent had an opposite. Selene knew that some other cat in this world, owned the ‘fight’ pendent. It focused on the mastery of strength, and the welder was… less forgiving. This cat -who had possessed the ‘fight’ pendent- constantly sent messengers and assassins to take over Selene’s ‘flight’ pendent. She always managed to catch them, however, and send them back to their… leader -with a few little warnings (wink). But this time, this new messenger had silently sneaked into the swamp garden. They had slipped through the trees and towards the rock with the pendent. They’d snatched it, and escaped with it. Selene grew desperate. If the ‘fight’’s owner got ahold of the necklace…. “Then,” Selene whispered, “I fear for us all.” ~to be continued
