❝ like a time machine rebuilds the past, my memories return . . . like remembering the ashes before they burn. ❞ - smell, sleeping at last ❅ { about me! } ❅ Crim ❅ criminal-intent ❅ I’m an author, artist, and Christian. I am also a twin, and I tend to roleplay characters alongside my sister. (We created Mo together, and if I get Memory, she’d take him over completely and I’d switch to roleplaying Memory.) ❅ Activity: In scratch, about a 7, in TFCRP more like a 4 or 5 on average, however I go through periods of less or more activity, reaching around 7-8 in TFCRP, when I’m feeling very invested in my character. I’m super excited at the prospect of inventing and roleplaying a new character and potentially returning to RiverClan! ❅ I’ve been in TFCRP for many years now (almost 4, I think? tbh you would know better than me) ❅ Past characters: Swiftbird (with Vi), Greycloud, and Mo (with Vi) ❅ I love the environment of TFCRP, it’s a great way to make new friends and to explore characters. I’d be particularly excited to come back to RiverClan, which I love so much! (RC forever<3) ❅ { Memory’s future } ❅ ❅ I don’t generally hurt my characters permanently, apart from the occasional scar (though I could see Memory getting a little more banged up when she’s younger due to her (new) blindness paired with her reckless personality). ❅ I’d definitely keep her for 30+ moons. I kept Greycloud for a very long time (up to the age limit, if I remember correctly) and liked it that way. I really love this kit’s personality I’ve drafted (with Vi, although I’d be her roleplayer) and am very interested/excited/a little terrified to be roleplaying a blind character. Currently, I’m also working on a novel with a blind protagonist, so I’ve already done some research and have some practice with writing this specific disability. ❅ She will be female, straight. (Though I don’t know if I plan to pursue any romantic relationships for her at all.) ❅ { Memory’s personality } ❅ ❅ [ + ] brave, honest, noble, chivalrous, honorable, ❅ [ = ] stubborn, curious, independent, proud, spontaneous, idealistic, ❅ [ - ] nosy, withdrawn, know-it-all, rebellious, reckless ❅ Detailed personality [more details would be added as she ages] Memory is very curious, even nosy; she will listen to any gossip, but doesn’t tend to spread it about unless she feels it’s important that someone knows the information; she doesn’t like crowds (she feels very out of control in them); Memory is not prone to sharing, tends to be very emotionally removed; she is not very reflective of herself, doesn’t feel like she knows herself very well; scared of not being good enough for her standards; she tends to be pretty accepting of others’ flaws, except when it comes to breaking promises she is very reckless, but also brave when it comes to exploring; she can be proud; a know-it-all—she can’t resist correcting people if she feels she knows better; in a large group, she’d be very quiet, but otherwise is quite talkative; she loves unraveling mysteries, except one: her past; can be very self-deprecating—she thinks she’s weak (for hiding from her past, for her nightmares, etc. - not for her blindness!), which makes her more determined to be strong; in spite of this, she can be self-righteous; takes promises incredibly seriously, hates it when people break their word; very noble, honorable, chivalrous (total Gryffindor); stubborn; determined to protect her loved ones; incredibly artistic and loves adding special things to her nest (flowers, leaves, interesting rocks); she loves collecting interesting textures, whether it be bark, pebbles, beetle shells, or other things she finds; she also enjoys composing poetry and playing around with fun sounding words; she is very organized-chaos; she is incredibly independent, liking to explore on her own; however, she loves it when others take interest in things she likes (whether it be listening to her poetry, letting her lead you someplace, etc); her love languages are quality time and gift-giving; she isn’t prone to confrontation unless she feels her hand is forced; kind of expects others to “deal with themselves” in this way types :: Enneagram: 6w7 MBTI: ISFP-T Alignment: Neutral Good relationships :: Memory is very reactive when it comes to interaction. She rarely gets (openly) mad unless someone is mad at her and hides irritation quite well. She always strives to be cordial and polite, though her conversation is by no means formal. Although, once she gets into an argument, she’s very stubborn and even self-righteous. She’s typically quiet unless talking about something that interests her or in a one-on-one context. In a close relationship, Memory doesn’t often say “I love you” or expect the other to say it, but she always assumes it to be true/feels like she knows it. [ cont’d below ]
[cont’d from instructions ] I’d imagine her relationship with her sister would, as kits, be close. However, Memory[] might enable some of Dancing[]’s problematic behavior as she (a) doesn’t really see it and (b) isn’t prone to confrontation, especially with someone as dear to her as her sister Memory[] would probably adore her mother and have a similar feeling towards her as she does towards Dancing[], but will also sometimes grow irritated by Cress’ at times overbearing attitude. nickname ideas :: Em or Roy <3 hobbies/likes :: Memory likes doing things by herself, and she talks to herself a great deal, especially when composing poetry; she loves exploring the world through textures, and thinks of words as having certain texture to them, which is why she loves poetry/composing sentences. ❅ { Research } ❅ https://allwritealright.com/how-to-write-a-blind-or-vision-impaired-character/ https://www.quora.com/What-are-some-things-to-keep-in-mind-when-writing-a-blind-character https://wordgathering.syr.edu/past_issues/issue9/essays/green.html https://cripplecharacters.tumblr.com/post/662165072379002880/amp https://jameyannefuller.com/how-to-write-a-blind-character-2021-edition/ https://writingwithcolor.tumblr.com/post/641777207308697600/writing-a-blind-or-visually-impaired-character/amp https://devenrue.com/blogs/news/blind-visually-impaired-characters https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK448182/#:~:text=Total%20blindness%20is%20a%20term,have%20some%20level%20of%20vision. Important stuff/Notes: Most blind/visually impaired people do not have total blindness. (Memory does, however.) Blind people don’t just see “darkness”; though if they have memories (from before they were blind, if this is the case like for Memory) their brain may interpret a total lack of visual input as dark. Other senses are not “heightened”, however as they are more relied upon, a blind person will pay more attention to them (with practice; this doesn’t automatically happen if you were blinded later in life). Some visually impaired/blind people have favorite textures or are more interested in textures. Without (clear) visuals, touching the thing is the only way to know its texture. Sometimes a VI/blind person’s friend might point out things to them, such as “there’s a ____ over there” or “____ is heading our way” or warn them of oncoming people walking the opposite direction. This can also just be interesting things the blind person might enjoy—eg, if they like a certain type of animal, their friend may mention that there is one nearby.* A friend might also introduce themselves each time they walk up so that the VI/blind person can know who they’re talking to right away.* (It can be hard to tell voices apart well enough to rely on it constantly.) *Depending on Dancing’s personality, it would be lovely if this could occur in their relationship! ❅ Vi and I are currently writing a novel with a (fully) blind protagonist, just like Memory. This research was originally from that. ❅ RP example :: Memory[] resisted the urge to thrash her tail. In the greenleaf heat, her fur felt like it was melting off. Still, she waited. She could hear the mouse coming closer. It snuffled at the ground, small paws making scratching noises against the dry dirt. When Memory[] thought it was in reach, Memory pounced. She felt a small body between her claws. Yes! She twisted her neck, about to snip the animal’s spine, but a flash of /something/ shook her out of her focus. Fire and smoke. Memory[] dropped the mouse, and she—dimly—heard it scurry off. The memory flashed in her mind, a moment from time past. What time, she didn’t know. The strangest thing was, Memory[] could /see/ it. Not simply an image in her mind, but one appearing in her vision. That couldn’t be right. Memory[] shook her head, but she couldn’t get rid of the red flames or the smell of black smoke. Where had it come from? The sight was like a word on the tip of her tongue. A final line to a poem she couldn’t quite figure out. And it hurt, not to know—or maybe that was the ashes in her lungs. The memory seemed like a nightmare, one she was only now remembering. Maybe that’s all it was, a dream surfacing in her mind. Memory[] trudged back to camp, hoping the smell of home would dispel the image from her head. That night, as she curled up in bed, Memory[] realized she should have known better than to expect reality to erase the nightmare. ❅ My main questions would refer to how Memory became blind. Was it a disease, an accident, did it happen during the fire? This would impact how I RP her feelings about her blindness. playlist ❅ once upon a december :: christy altomare junkyard island :: cadence floria six :: sleeping at last smell :: sleeping at last joburg :: hudson freeman all alone :: plàsi angels :: owl city babylon :: thomas austin this is home :: cavetown hidden in the sand :: tally hall brave :: the satellite station { audio :: Once Upon a December played by Crowe }
